i use CreateWindowsEx to create a listbox and make its single item selected by code, i don't want the user to change the selected item index. i tried EnableWindow to disable the listbox window but it disabled the scrollbar of the listbox as well. What API should i use to make the listbox viewable only? which message should i process to prevent users from selecting another item in the listbox? (API solution only!)

hello guys,
i want to load image(any format,but i think jpg/bmp format)from file to picture control(picture box).i will make it when the program runs/execute. So, i want to put the code in function ON INIT DIALOG.But i don't know how. Can anyone help me???

Put your load image code in InitDialog (LoadBitmap, LoadImage etc) but process drawing in OnPaint (BitBlt, ..strecht...etc).

Well I'm doing some mysql connections for a database project I'm working on. The documentation says it requires VC++ 7.1 The version I'm running appears to be a 7.0.2. Now I've only been back in the Visual C++ world for about... 2 weeks. Is the Studio 2005 supose to be 7.1?

I just relooked at the version and it is "Microsoft Development Environment 7.1.3088" ("MS Visual Studio .NET Professional 2003 - English") and the "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1" version is 1.1.4322 SP1

I just realized the issue myself:
Visual Studio 2002 .NET is 7.0.93
Visual Studio 2003 .NET is 7.1.xx
Visual Studio 2005 .NET is 8.0beta

I'll add that Microsoft have been working like beavers to get thier C++ implimentation standards compliant. That's probably the reason for the version problem, although I thought the big jump was from 6.0 to 7.0.

Hello all,
I quick question .. I have been programming Windows Apps for some time, but heretofore have not had to display and allow selection (with the mouse) of simple graphics in a CView derived class.
It is standard for Windows Apps to allow the user to select a graphic (a line, a rectangle, ... ) with a left button click, and when so clicked, to display selection rectangles around the graphic. On a line, these selection rectangles (small filled rectangles) are typically on the end points.
I surmise that either MFC or the Windows API has already coded this functionality, but for the life of me, even tracing throuhg MSDN supplied sample code (such as drawcli), I can not determine how the system is alerted that this shape should display selection rectangles.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Hello,
Why is it that anytime I right-click on a local variable inside a function and select “go to definition”, it always replies “The symbol ____ is not defined.”? How can I get .net to allow me to browse local symbols? (It finds the global symbols just fine.)
