Impossible. Your best bet is to create methods in the top class that hide the methods you don't want to call in the absolute base class.

This will be tough to implement unless you are well versed with Regular Expressions. System.NET comes with a class named WebClient. Using this you can download the processed HTML of any websites by specifying URL. First you have to download the page which contains image. Now using a regular expression, parse all text and look for images. Find all images and give request to that to download it.

C# is a great language but I am a little lost in the Visual Studio...
How can I enable dragging from the Tree component and the List box component?
The TextBox component has an AllowDrop and RichText has EnableAutoDragDrop... I wish there were consitent properties for this.
I want to be able to drag items from either a tree or a list box and drop them onto either a text box or a Rich Edit box.
I have found a few articles but none that answer this specific qustion.
Thanks

Hi,
I have an Mdi Parent that contains some Mdi Child forms. Mdi Parent has a Menu, Childforms have their menu too. Why does Mdi Child put all it's menu items to Mdi Parent Menu when shown ? I don't need that behavior.

I have resource files in different languages created by VCS 2005 Express.
I want to use those files to translate reports at runtime.
I have text to be translated as string.
I think I need to search resource file for this string id.
After that I need to return translated string from other resouce file ?
Is this best idea?
Where to find sample code which implements this ?
How to allow application users to add translations at runtime ?

Try
object nullRef = null;
object count = null;
object gotoItem = (object)WdGoToItem.wdGoToBookmark;
object name = (object)"Sample";
Range rng = doc.GoTo(ref gotoItem, ref nullRef, ref count, ref name); where doc is your document.

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me...
I have a combo box dropdown style on a form that I want to localise.
I am trying to find the code to load the resource file.
For instance the code for a label called Component List is:
this.label1.Text = res.GetString("Component List");
How do I do this for a combo box with a collection:
blue
red
yellow
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Typically, you would just store each item as a separate resource string and load it like so:
this.comboBox1.Items.AddRange(new object[] {
resources.GetString("comboBox1.Items"),
resources.GetString("comboBox1.Items1"),
resources.GetString("comboBox1.Items2")});
You could save them as a single string with a known separator (for example the '|' char). After getting the string you could use String.Split to get the individual entries. Finally, you would loop over the string array returned from #1 and add them to the Combo box. This all assumes that '|' will never appear in the individual entries.
Take care,
Tom

Thanks Tom for your help.
As I am very new to C#.NET and localization I am a little unsure of what to do next.
Would the above code go in the Form (code page) that has the combo box with the label code, etc?
I also haven't used "'|' char" either so I wouldn't know where to begin here.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I'd recommend reading this[^]. Basically, you can use the VS designer to set the strings for you. The code I pasted earlier was generated by VS. You simply add the items to the ComboBox and VS puts them in the resource file for the current language (as described in the link).
For the "|" char, I was saying you could put all the items in a single resource string. If you go this route then you can't use the VS Form designer. The idea is you would create a string resource with a value of "One|Two|Three". Then you could split the string and add them to the ComboBox like so (this code is off the top of my head so it may not be 100% correct):
String[] parts = resources.GetString("comboBox1.Items").Split(new Char[] {'|'});
foreach (String part in parts)
this.comboBox.Items.Add(part);
Then to localize you just have to update that one resource (e.g. "Uno|Dos|Tres").
Take care,
Tom

Thanks again Tom for your help
I used the VS designer to add the strings to the combox box using "collection" under the combo box properties. This is the code it created under the form's designer.
// comboBox1
//
this.comboBox1.FormattingEnabled = true;
this.comboBox1.Items.AddRange(new object[] {
"Intense",
"Santa Cruz"});
this.comboBox1.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(12, 25);
this.comboBox1.Name = "comboBox1";
this.comboBox1.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(174, 21);
this.comboBox1.TabIndex = 1;
//
I am now trying to work out the code for the load resource file, which is added to the form's code... this is what I am confused with...
Again your help is greatly appreciated...

Did you set the parent Form's Localizable property to true? If so, then it should use resources.
Also, I'm assuming you are working with Visual Studio 2005. Is this correct?
Take care,
Tom

Hi Tom
Yes that is correct I am using VS 2005.
We need to adapt the program to load strings for the appropriate culture, but without using the form’s “Localizable” property, which will handle things automatically. I think it is done by using a Resource Manager?
I am having a few problems with my application. Is there a way of pasting screen shots in here so I can explain?
Thanks again for your help

I'd recommend creating a new Visual Studio project that you can play with. Then set the Localizable property to true in the test project, add a combo box, and add some strings to it. Then you can see how VS is adding the resources and using them.
VS does use a ResourceManager to manage the resources. You can add a "Resource" from the "Add Item to Project" menu option. Make sure you don't already have a resource in your project though.
Another option would be to add a new (temporary) Form to your existing project, set it's Localizable property to true, add a combo box, and add some strings to it. This will create the resource for you and give you a sample of how it works. Then delete the Form when you are done. This will leave the resource file, so you can use it in your existing forms.
To load strings in the combo box for your existing Form, you would do the same thing that the test Form did (in it's Form#.Designer.cs file). Except, you would put your code to add the items to the ComboBox in the constructor of your existing Form (after the InitializeComponents call).
Take care,
Tom
