First, check with your ISP's Terms Of Service agreement. Most ISP's won't let you setup a web server, or any other server for that matter, inside their network.
After that, if your allowed to even do this, you have to install IIS on a machine and configure it to do what you want. The rest depends on your connection to the Internet and how your network is setup. If you have a router/NAT/firewall, you'll have to configure those items to forward requests on port 80 (or whatever your web site is going to use) to the IP of the web server machine in your network.

Hello,
I've created a class that can be used with the remoting framework. I've tested several methods and properties and all works well, except for one method. I don't know why, but I can see in the log file that the call for the property is made successfull. The other functioncall is made (I see it in the log file), but is never received by the server. The receive message entry doesn't appear in the log file.
Here is the class definition:
internal interface IChannelEnd
{
void ReceiveData(object oData );
string ID
{
get;
}
event OnReceiveDataDelegate EvReceiveData;
}
Both log files:
Server side: The property
Message start> Server Sync:
__Uri = /ChannelEnd
__MethodName = get_ID
__MethodSignature =
__TypeName = SerializationLayer.IChannelEnd, Serialization,
Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
__Args = System.Object[]
__CallContext = System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging.LogicalCallContext
Message finish> Server Sync:
__Uri = /ChannelEnd
__MethodName = get_ID
__MethodSignature = System.Type[]
__TypeName = SerializationLayer.IChannelEnd, Serialization, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
__Return = 145.85.150.44:10005
__OutArgs = System.Object[]
__CallContext = System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging.LogicalCallContext
// Server side: The method call
Message start> Server Sync:
__Uri = /ChannelEnd
__MethodName = ReceiveData
__MethodSignature =
__TypeName = SerializationLayer.IChannelEnd, Serialization,
Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
__Args = System.Object[]
__CallContext = System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging.LogicalCallContext
Message finish> Server Sync:
__Uri = /ChannelEnd
__MethodName = ReceiveData
__MethodSignature = System.Type[]
__TypeName = SerializationLayer.IChannelEnd, Serialization,
Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
__Return = System.Void
__OutArgs = System.Object[]
__CallContext = System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging.LogicalCallContext
The client side: Property
Message start> Server Sync:
__Uri = /ChannelEnd
__MethodName = get_ID
__MethodSignature =
__TypeName = SerializationLayer.IChannelEnd, Serialization,
Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
__Args = System.Object[]
__CallContext = System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging.LogicalCallContext
Message finish> Server Sync:
__Uri = /ChannelEnd
__MethodName = get_ID
__MethodSignature = System.Type[]
__TypeName = SerializationLayer.IChannelEnd, Serialization,
Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
__Return = 145.85.150.44:10005
__OutArgs = System.Object[]
There is no entry for the method ReceiveData...?

Well I finally solved the problem. The problem were the objects that I send across the network:
[System.Serializable]
class WrongClass
{
}
[System.Serializable()]
class RightClass
{
}

The attribute was wrong. I know that they 'should' be the same, but without the parenthesis, it won't work and with the parenthesis, it works.. I guess that this is a bug somewhere in the runtime or something. Maybe I'll notify MS about it.

Consider the statement "System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControllCollection Control.Controls" that means "Controls" is a field of "Control" class which its type is "System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControllCollection".And I found out that "Control" is a class inside "System.Windows.Forms" namespace and "ControllCollection" is a class too, but inside the "Controll" class.
I wonder if I have true realization about this statement. And is it possible to define a class inside the other class?
thx.
|
|
|
|
|
Yes you can, it is not that dissimilar to declaring it inside of a namespace - just think of the class as a sub-namespace, so you must access that collection as
Control.ControlCollection myCollection = myControl.Controls;
|
|
|
|
|
We call these classes that get defined inside other classes "inner classes" or "nested classes." The reason that you would want to do something like this centers on how you want other classes to create and consume these classes.
For a brief discussion on inner classes, look at the article Inner Classes.

Hello friends!
basicaly im wondring how i can access the menu bar using c#...is it even doable? im sure it is! im actually working on a web form in which i want to include a "print button" that when it fires i can directly print my form. i was thinking of capturing the ctrl+P function on my print button or just have a code that accesses the menu bar then tunnels through FILE->PRINT only problem is...im totaly clueles on how to go about this. I really hope some of you could lend me your skills (and a few code snippets if possible ).
Once again im entirely greatful for all your responses...Thanx!

Hi.. I'm currently doing a web design on the calendar. I would like to ask that if i click the date on the calendar, how can i make it appear on the text box once i click on the date? I have tried several ways of doing it but it does not show out. Did anyone know how do it? Your help will be greatly appreciated.Thank
Cheers!

Although I am not very familiar with ADO.NET, I think that if you intercept the calendar's event handler for a value changed then you will be able to know that the current selected date has chnged...

Hi there.
I am having a bit of a problem with Paint. I have a form and then when a user selects a certain choice from a menu the program puts several label controls with a text on the form. The program is also supposed to draw some lines when the same selection is made but it does not. Let me show you a little what I am talking about:
private void dowhatIwant(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
this.Paint += new PaintEventHandler(p2_Paint);
...
... //here is the code that puts the labels on the form
}
...
...
private void p2_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e)
{
Graphics g = e.Graphics;
Pen p = new Pen(Color.Black,1);
Point p1 = new Point(88, 32);
Point p2 = new Point(299, 32);
g.DrawLine(p, p1, p2); //this line gets partially drawn
Point p3 = new Point(68, 106);
Point p4 = new Point(115, 106);
g.DrawLine(p, p3, p4);
...
...
}
I have several more lines I want to draw but only the first one shows? Can someone please show me the error of my ways?
Thank you,
FJ
|
|
|
|
|
Probably the lines you draw intersect with other ojects. The drawing procedure is like this : draw this control, then draw all child controls that are visible.
So if you draw a line on the parent control, and the line has a common area with an other control (in your case a Label ), the line will not be visible in the respective area.
A posible solution will be a Panel drawed onto the area on which you wish to do the drawing. Set the panel's Transparency to a unused color, set the Panel's BackgroundColor to the Transparency Color, and override and invoke the Panel's Patint Event.
I hope you understand...because is a rough world out there...

Hi All,
I'm developing a C# app. I need to dynamically change my config file details. For this I'm using MS Enterprise Lib Configuration Application Block.
My App.config file is written as:
<code>
<configuration>
<configSections>
<section name="enterpriselibrary.configurationSettings" type="System.Configuration.IgnoreSectionHandler, System, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" />
</configSections>
<enterpriselibrary.configurationSettings xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" defaultSection="" applicationName="Application" xmlns="http://www.microsoft.com/practices/enterpriselibrary/08-31-2004/configuration">
<configurationSections>
<configurationSection name="EditorSettings" encrypt="false">
<storageProvider xsi:type="XmlFileStorageProviderData" name="XML File Storage Provider" path="EditorSettings.config" />
<dataTransformer xsi:type="XmlSerializerTransformerData" name="Xml Serializer Transformer">
<includeTypes />
</dataTransformer>
</configurationSection>
</configurationSections>
<keyAlgorithmStorageProvider xsi:nil="true" />
</enterpriselibrary.configurationSettings>
</configuration>
</code>
I have another config file named EditorSettings.config which is written as:
<code>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<EditorSettings>
<xmlSerializerSection type="ConfigFile.SettingsClass, ConfigFile, Version=1.0.2146.19246, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null">
<SettingsClass xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<UserName>Administrator</UserName>
<ClientName>myname</ClientName>
<AppName>app</AppName>
</SettingsClass>
</xmlSerializerSection>
</EditorSettings>
</code>
My doubt is: If I have to include one more "configurationSection" inside the "configurationSections" tag in my App.config, should I create another config file as "EditorSettings.config"? Or can I include the new section in "EditorSettings.config"? Or else is there any other workaround?
Also mention how to read/write such a config file programatically.
Thanks.
