Might be an idea if sponsors had a badge or similar, or a page where we could identify them to prevent this happening again?
Or can only sponsors access the Product Showcase section?

Only staff can post in the Product Showcase. Sponsors typically don't even make their own accounts; they can't access anything.
If there is a post that is a sponsored post, it has this at the top:
"This article is in the Product Showcase section for our sponsors at CodeProject. These articles are intended to provide you with information on products and services that we consider useful and of value to developers."

I sussed that when I read your reply below ... I must start reading the entire thread, rather than just responding to emails.

Sorry Sean, but editorial notes are not that 100% reliable.

and another similar one: Re: Editorial Note in a wrong article - Article Writing Discussion Boards[^]
and another one: Spam article as "IoT Contest" entry[^]
IMHO, it would still be nice to have the badge or something. Or move the Editorial notes / Sponsors notes to a place where only the staff can edit to avoid possible "HTML" fooling
If we... the "experienced" spam blockers have to ask to be sure, then the average user might get fooled pretty fast.

Or simply "lock" these articles to prevent from reporting ?
It does not solve my Problem, but it answers my question

In all honesty it is confusing as anyone code put in their article any made up story about sponsors or something like that which might get past us.
This should be something that needs to be looked at so we don't have this type of issue again

Thanks for the diligence. Anything posted in the Product Showcase section can only be posted by staff, so that's all sponsored content and is A-OK.
Thanks,
