I still think you should be passing the repo instances in via the constructor. In the test environment, you need to be able to pass mocked instances in, so that you can test just the logic of the class, rather than also testing the concrete repo implementation.

In the live environment, the DI container will take care of creating the instances for you and passing them to the constructor.

If your class needs precise control over when the repo instance is created, then pass in a "factory" interface, with a method to create the repo instance.
