IMO you are right, most of the things present in the registry would be better of somewhere else.
The registry is fine for storing paths, so system objects can be located easily.
It is not the ideal place to keep app settings.

Can any one help,
I am developing the crystal report(salary report) for emp salary details application using c# .net 2.0 version window application.
In "salary report" have following field object and text objects are there.
field objects

2)VoucherNumber1
3)AccountNumber1
4)ChequeNumber1
5)BankName1
text objects

2)txtVoucherNumber
3)txtAccountNumber

Requirement

If modeofpayment1 field object value is "Cash" then
1)txtAccountNumber
2)txtChequeNumber
3)txtBankName
text objects is invisible.
If modeofpayment1 field object value is "BankDeposit" then
1)txtVoucherNumber text object is invisible.
I have tried following code
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.TextObject temp = ((CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.TextObject)cr1.ReportDefinition.Sections["Section3"].ReportObjects["txtAccountNumber"]);

the above code is ok for only one record.
How to do for multiple record.

When this happens, it usually means that the line where you set the breakpoint is not being reached.
As you have made changes, it is possible that an event handler has become detached from its control, so use the Events tab in the Properties Window, to make sure all your controls are connected to the events you want.
If this does not cure the problem, try this:
1) examine your code, step through it in your mind, or use pencil and paper, to see if you can spot why the line is not reached. Then fix it, if found.
2) if the line is inside a conditional code block, set a new break-point on the line before the conditional test (If, While or whatever), then single step to see why not. If not in a conditional block, set the new BP on the first line of the method containing the original BP.
If the BP from 2 still skips, set a breakpoint on the line that calls the problem method. Continue back up the calling chain until you get a bite.

I suspect this isn't possible but before I completely abandon the idea I'd thought I'd post and ask. I have two database tables structures as follows:
Table1
AreaID
CategoryID
Amount
Table2
AreaID
AmountTotal
I need to display the share that each category has of the overall area total, each area has many categories. The easy solution (and maybe the correct one) is to have a datatable which looks like this
DataTable
AreaID
CategoryID
Amount
AreaAmountTotal
and bind the Share column to an expression of Amount / AmountTotal. However this means the AreaAmountTotal is stored for every record that has the same area id and this struck me as inefficent. I'd thought to use a relational dataset with two datatables structured the same as the database tables and bind the share column to an expression across both tables but this doesn't seem possible (or at least I find no examples of it anywhere).
It looks like I could achieve this by not binding the datagridview to anything and programmatically populating the grid but development speed is an issue and we were hoping to minimise writing very much code.

No, not really, but you can build a DataView object using the multiple tables and bind the DGV to the DataView.

I've had a look at DataView and it doesn't seem to support more than one table, can you point me at an example of that?
I did stumble across the JoinView http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B325682[^] which does support mulitple tables so I'll have a look at that (written in VB .Net though I guess that doesn't matter).

hi
actually i have build wix aplication which i want to installed from flash
drive to other machine but i want installation should not copy files to
target machine it should run only when the flash drive is plugged ,after
setting all the feature and component run-from-source , msi installtion
copying file in target machine. and in the verbose log it shows all featur
and compnent run-from-local.
it is not runing from source why?

I have read that the latest Expression Blend can read Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop fles, but I have not tried this myself.

I like to simulate Mobile UI using Windows Forms.
I want some pointer to implement following features,
1. How to display cursor(horizontal cursor "_" and vertical cursor "|") inside
text box control
2. How to get cursor position and move the cursor.
Some one can also suggest whether TextBox control is enough for the above implementation or whether i should go with RichTextBox control

There are many features available for WindowsCE! I am working on WindowsForms.
I am hardcore C Programmer, I am introduced to C++ because of MFC/Visual Studio to create gui to my back end C program library.
I am switching over from MFC to windows forms as i am informed that WF is easy than MFC. I am learning Windows Form now, and i see examples for VB, C# and C++. I prefer to use C++ as i can manage and understand the same compare to other.
I created Windows Forms project using following options:
File->New->Project->VC++(main option)->Windows Forms Application in Visual Studio 2008 professional edition.
I really dont know whether C# or C++ is used by default by the VS2008 while creating the template!

my requirement is I wish to change the cursor based on button press inside the text control and back to default on clicking another button. I used following code.

I have not used C++ since before the advent of Windows Forms, so I would not venture to attempt to offer you any code snippets.
However speaking in Windows Forms terms, each TextBox instance has its own Cursor property and it is this that needs to be set. If you need to change the cursor for all TextBoxes on a Form/Control you will need to iterate over the Controls property of the Form/Control and test if the control is a TextBox and then set the Cursor property to the desired cursor. Since TextBox inherits the Cursor property from Control there is no need to cast before doing so.
I hope that this helps, but if not perhaps someone with C++ skills will help you.

My outer splitContainer is the one with the horizontal split, then then I have 2 vertical splitContainers, one for top and one for bottom, giving me 4 panels. I can resize the 2 top or 2 bottom ones horizontally, or all 4 vertically, but I can't resize all 4 horizontally. What I'd like is something like the above, but I can click on the location where all 4 panels meet and resize them together. I tried searching for "4 way splitcontainer" and "4 panel splitcontainer" but nothing really came up. Everything I've seen involves nesting splitContainers.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
