In my opinion, those working on visual programming would be more likely to succeed if they started with aspects of software that developers already visualize. Here we go again again

I think *actual* visual programming is fine and all (where we replace code with shapes or something).
I don't really think that's the important bit. I want WYSIWYG code-behind UI elements a la old school VB where I never ever have to think about there being an iota of js. Super bonus points if there actually is none of it.
MSFT could redeem themselves wholly overnight with something like that.
