Way back in 2013, I started mammoth.js, a library that converts Word documents into HTML. It's not a large project - roughly 3,000 lines - nor is it particularly exciting. Never underestimate the power of a side project

Hmm. Last I recall, each cigarette took 5-20 minutes off your life. Does that mean that eating sausages is more dangerous than smoking?

Smoked sausages, now I'm really hungry, and after I consume some, a lot closer to death! It's worth it I tell ya!

And in other news each kale salad I'm prevented from throwing away untouched takes at least 3 months off my will to live.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

There has been a lot of consternation about Windows 11 and its support (or rather lack of support) for popular processors. Might be a good way to get away from Windows Update

The comments appall me. Especially the bozo who says, "this is the cloud working as intended."

Despite the severity and risk presented, Microsoft hasn’t seen any evidence of the vulnerability leading to illicit data access. "There is no evidence of this technique being exploited by malicious actors," Microsoft told Bloomberg in an emailed statement. "
Wow, clearly written by a lawyer. Microsoft is being run by a bunch of incompetents. They are imbeciles when it comes to local PC security, and you actually think Azure is secure? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
*ANY* and I mean any IT CEO or CTO, or whatever elephanting name they have now that starts to use Azure better have a golden parachute. Until Microsoft has to write checks, they won't stop this stupidity.

They say ageism plague the software industry. Not so sure.
Case in point: my personal experience is. The older I get, the better I am paid and the easier it is to find a new job. For example, I just found a job with EA (Electronic Arts, a dream job, if there was any), which is also my best paid so far and I am 50 years old.

I had ... consistent luck (changing job every 2~3 years for the last 20 years)....
I think it goes beyond luck at this stage...
Might be different which country you in, and which technology expertise you pursue as well...
i.e. while I would be the first to say I am very smart (totally unbiased opinion ), there is more to it. I think one can plan their career ins such a way that it maximize their opportunities. Works in Australia
For the record my "specialties" or strong point would be, as I like to advertise them, long time ago C/C++ (I like to stress it's not current, but it's there) and C#/.NET on Web, Desktop and Mobile platform. And the market is good!
