raddevus wrote: Whose side is Microsoft on, anyways? They have taken sides with cloud, and as-a-service approach. From what I can imagine, it doesn't really now. They have started to support Linux, Azure AD is on Linux VMs, open source data science tools and products, HDInsight, and Apache etc. Even on their App Service plan, they supported Linux first and then they provided Windows containers support in preview, just now.
It comes to me as a shock, that Java support is what you are worried about.

That was my first thought too

Many security pros and CISOs think their jobs don’t earn the respect they deserve, with many believing that their company boards and leadership view their roles as keeping the lights on and systems running, and not as a source of innovation within the business. "Find out what it means to me"

Golly. Another phenomenally uninsightful piece from dicey insights.
Dicey Insights wrote: About 50 percent of the security respondents believe that company leadership views their role as maintenance. Only 23 percent reported that security is viewed as an innovation center Now, there may be those who wonder why this is.
And the truth can finally be known...
There is a big difference, O Best Beloved, between looking after security and innovating new products.
I'd love to see if anyone at dicey actually has any press creds, or experience in real journalism.
Or any insights into anything.
Nah, scratch that last one. I already know.

Unity, a leading maker of game development tools, announced today that it’s created a new, unprecedented type of video game that’s designed not to be played by humans, but by artificial intelligence. Oh great. Now the AI are coming for my play time

Glad to see they've finally recognized the buying power of the A.I. cohort.

The question has to be asked:
For whom is this of interest, and why?
Will they release movies of AIs running around a tower, or something?
Here's an AI game-playing benchmarking tool for you: Any Fruggin' Game at All!
Make 'em all play the same game, and they'll all make the same mistakes when released into the wild; and without variety in training regimes, you'll have a hard time finding what's causing problems.

IE10 will soon exit support, leaving many Windows users without any security or non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options, or online technical content. Just in time to tell them to stop upgrading to IE11 (and Edge)

Oh wow, didn't realise this was a thing still. All our clients are business and no IE10 use in the last 3 years.
Hang on a minute. Are these the same locked down Windows 7 computers which don't have critical update patches!?
|

|

No, they're locked down server or Win8 embedded boxes. I suspect 99% of them either already have Chrome or Firefox installed, or are blocked from the web entirely. What shocks me is that MS didn't force the issue on them years ago so they could stop having to waste money patching IE10.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

There’s more to serverless than just functions. The coming year will see more projects and products that show us just how useful this new option can be across all of IT. Because those servers just cost a lot of money, amirite?

To go serverless:
1) buy a server.
2) pretend it's not a server.
