Agreed. Apple can try all they want to kill apps or even entrenched stapes like Google search by adding things like Bing search results in Spotlight in the new OS X Yosemite, but they're not going anywhere.

I'm also going with not. If Apple nuked every duplicate app Google Play would become the biggest app store: A fate to be avoided at all costs.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Intel wants to completely eliminate wires from computers, and is working on a series of wireless technologies to make that a reality in the coming years. Every time I run the microwave, my computer screen flips over

I can't wait for them to eliminate displays, keyboards, mice, etc... a pure osmosis interface!

The study’s authors conclude that having DevOps practices in place improves IT performance, organizational culture can be used to predict IT performance, and job satisfaction is the number one predictor of an organization’s performance. And a study I just carried out shows that people reading this are clever

Newly released DevOps survey concludes companies using DevOps have better IT
Doesn't that fall under some logical fallacy like "begging the question?"

Forcing users to clean their infected computers on an ongoing basis would be more disruptive to cyber criminals than botnet takedowns. You must be _this_ secure to use the Internet

So the next time you get a call from a foreign-sounding chap from "your ISP" to tell you that "your Windows is sending us a signal that it is infected with viruses", you'll know that it must be legit!
Yeah, this won't back-fire at all.

It can't work that way, but a website that says "Please go to your ISPs shop and ask for help" would work. It's easy to fake a service line, but a lot harder to fake an entire ISP shop...

Not really.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.-John Q. Adams You must accept one of two basic premises: Either we are alone in the universe, or we are not alone in the universe. And either way, the implications are staggering.-Wernher von Braun Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.-Albert Einstein

Astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope have captured the most comprehensive picture ever assembled of the evolving Universe — and one of the most colourful. The study is called the Ultraviolet Coverage of the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (UVUDF) project. I see London, I see France, I see my new desktop wallpaper

Google revealed today that it has added a new Safer Email section to its Transparency Report in order to document the percentage of outbound and incoming Gmail messages that are encrypted. Some email providers *don't* use TLS?
|
|
|
|
|
Looking at the actual report[^]; the main standout is ComCrap's and me.com (crApple)'s <1% values. Hotmail and mail.ru are both in the 50-90% bucket; although only one of those is likely to be a problem for most of the world. Ed10.net and constantcontact are both marketingspam delivery companies; and a much lower level of concern since they're blasting the same garbage to thousands if not millions of people.
Also, if you zoom out the graphs to show data from the start of the year, encryption rates have improved significantly.

The FBI, UK's National Crime Agency and Europol hope to squash the insidious Gameover Zeus botnet to bits under a joint project called Operation Tovar. According to US Deputy Attorney General Cole, the three agencies (with help from various security firms) have successfully disabled not only the botnet itself, but also associated malware Cryptolocker.
