If AI ever gains sentience, then the next logic step is for it to identify to a particular sex and gender...and political party. Equal rights for AI is sure to follow. Voting rights, no doubt.
Where does the madness end?

Leaving aside the red herrings of sex and gender which are totally irrelevant for political rights, if an entity is advanced enough to recognize the Universality of political rights and demand them for itself, who are you to refuse them?
Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.

To be fair, it's hard to see AI making worse political decisions than humans.

Microsoft says Windows 7 recovery discs created using the Control Panel Backup and Restore app will fail to start after installing Windows updates released since January 11, 2022. Update works as designed

But don't worry! ALL Windows 7 boxes came with TPM 2.0! Right???

The January 2022 updates were possibly the worst set up updates MS has released in quite a while.

Speaking on the Lex Fridman Podcast, hosted by MIT computer scientist Lex Fridman, Zuckerberg suggested that coding will evolve from a primarily “utilitarian” function to something more resembling “art.” I'm more of an "impressionist" programmer

After the .NET May updates, Microsoft will no longer provide servicing updates, including security fixes or technical support, for .NET 5.0. All that code from 2020. Gone. Like tears in rain.
"When .NET 5.0 reaches end of support, applications that use this version will continue to run. That said, we won’t issue security updates for .NET 5.0 starting in May 2022 when we issue security updates for supported versions of .NET, which will be .NET Core 3.1 and .NET 6.0. "

And that's why I stay away from company sponserd technologies. They are only interested in selling you the same product over and over and over again.

My question is, why is .Net Core 3.1 still being supported if .Net 5.0 is not?

Because .net core 3.1 is a long term support actual production release, .net 5 is a current extended public beta release.
Extended public betas are only intended for people who like upgrading their core platform version every year or so.
Edit: of course since 3.1 is EOL at the end of 2022; anyone on it really should be working on upgrading to .net 6 too.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

.NET 5.0 isn't the default version in any version of Windows. Windows 10 defaults to .NET 4.x (x is dependent on the specific version of Windows 10) and Windows 11 defaults to .NET 6.

Security firm Kaspersky Lab has been identified as a national security threat by the FCC, the first time a Russian company has been included on the regulator's "Covered List." I guess they're not going to win any "Best Antivirus" awards this year

This subject about Russia and software created in Russia is a very big deal. IMHO, it is the most important news currently.
So many software companies, including some big game developers, work out of Russia. There is a NATO mandate to sever all profitable business ties with Russia and Russia linked companies.
Our shop had to sever ties with a software company in Russia here recently due to this mandate.
A side note: I would love to know the "real" reason American companies outsource their software development to Russia, Belarus, etc. countries and not say, the UK, France, or Germany. I am sure it has to do with $$$.

I don't think the issue is Kaspersky Labs themselves. I think the issue is the fact that the Russian government can force them to turn over anything their AV sends to them for deeper verification.

Lawmakers agree on Digital Markets Act to regulate Big Tech; final votes still pending. Are they going to call it the, "Why can't we all get together" Act?

Or, for the ultimate anti-woke take: "We All Share Protocols" act.

Nvidia’s latest AI demo is pretty impressive: a tool that quickly turns a “few dozen” 2D snapshots into a 3D-rendered scene. I guess that's easier than just looking around at reality
