As the majority of the desk-based workers lurched to working from home during the pandemic-induced lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, communication between teams fell and working hours increased. There's no 'I' in 'Teams', and there's no 'Teams' in 'Microsoft'
I'd second their snarky comment about "why aren't they using Teams to collaborate", except I've used Teams.

I found myself wanting to know the stats for teams involved in the various teams involved in NET, the Framework, Visual Studio, Maui, Core, C#, etc.
Assuming they ... ever ... have time to communicate given their mission to roll out new previews which are unusable frequently.

So the take-away is that productivity improved because all that inter-team communication was actually a waste of time?

We have a daily standing zoom meeting from 4am to 2:30pm. If anyone wants to jump in and collaborate, they can.
Mostly, it's just the contractors, but every now and then, a civ employee will join the call. We've been doing this for over a year, and it works out fine. If we need to share a screen, we move to Teams on our work laptops.

So you get "the hallway effect" without being around each other.
Is the zoom call on your working machine, or a side one? (as I hate to be on camera during meetings, let alone all day)

Zoom is run from our personal machines. We don't run our cameras, and our mics are muted until we have something to say.

For over two decades, the C# programming language has allowed developers to build secure and robust applications within the .NET ecosystem. Moving the dev team on to something else?

No, they found out that the devs working on sql extensions were quite adept at making new icons and round corners on boxes that were round back in 2001.
I reckon this would be like NASA finding people that can re-learn how to build a Saturn 5 rocket, or lunar lander.

If you're worried about privacy, it might be time to cover up your front door's peephole. Beware of Peeping Toms with lasers
As well as single-photon avalanche photodetectors, and a lot of computing power. Or just anyone from Stanford.
