C++/CLI is hardly "Legacy" nor a "Bad Idea".
That it's Windows-only is due to the fact C++/CLI extends the C++ syntax and is only supported by Microsoft's compilers. There is ongoing work in GCC++ to support it which I believe will gain steam once MS releases this in .Net Core 3.1.
OTOH, there are opensource compilers that target standard C++ to .Net Core. Some even documented in articles here on CP.

In your case might I suggest more coffee and a closer reread.
Quote: This[C++/CLI] is one of the larger missing parts; and I think was the only one left MS isn't saying they won't port over because it's a Legacy Bad Idea (tm) like Webforms. The old Non-generic .net 1.x containers and App Domains...
I'm saying that I think with C++/CLI porting in progress, everything else on the not being ported list are the legacy bad ideas they've previously explicitly said won't be ported.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

While a lot has already been written about popular programming languages, we would like to tell you about the ones that are already extinct or are on the verge. Here are the seven programming languages you should try to avoid in your next project. Unless you're being paid to use them, of course
Or maybe especially then

Now now, he did say Visual Basic is going to be replaced by .NET (apparently). I'm sure regular basic is still going to be around for a while.

I know that. Thanks.
Maybe he meant VB6, VB5,VB4,VB3,VB2 or VB (not .NET)? No, I just think he doesn't know what he is talking about - and he can't spell, either!

Also listing LISP as a dying language is kind of silly, given the number of modern implementations of it.
