I really cannot understand why the reactionary right are such snowflakes about how other people want to express their sexuality.

Microsoft has pulled Books from the Microsoft Store and is planning to offer customers who've purchased any ebooks via the Store refunds, as their books will no longer be accessible as of July, 2019. Remember when you could buy books and they stayed on shelves? Good times.
And you could use the Jan Hankl method[^] to find them!
At least they're offering a refund.
On a related note - yay for Libby[^]!

Because people who like winio and the ms store don't fall into the category of people who can read.
So we've finally found the demographic that ms has been targetting with all its baby blocks, effluent interfaces, and immaterial designs.
I'm glad we've sorted that one out.
Anyone know who makes operating systems and UIs for grown-ups?

There is quite an assortment of buzzwords in that one sentence.

I did read the article as I had this passing thought along the lines of "wouldn't it be terrible if someone had created something really useful and no-one looked at it because of the jerk in marketing?"
Then I saw the flashing animations done by the jerk in marketing and thought "sod it." Added to which, the syntax looks vile.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

The thing I find really interesting in this article is that I really can't decide which sentence to quote to demonstrate what absolute b*llsh*t writing it is.
Remarkable, that.
So I've remarked about it.

It isn't about "being cool". It's about writing quality code.

Quote: Hiring or building new competencies, for example in user experience (UX) architecture and API product management, will create an innovative culture that’s cool again. Developers want to know they are using the latest techniques and best practices to enable innovation and agility in their organization.
All I read there was blah blah blah blah blah blah guff! (In the UK 'guff' can mean meaningless words as well as a silent fart - here I use it to mean both at the same time)

Cool is being the person who creates those innovations and "best practices" (which often aren't, harhar), not someone who drinks the KoolAid and uses them.
