Facebook has succeeded in transmitting data at almost 20Gbps between two towers in Southern California in tests of a technology key to its plans to deliver internet service to rural areas using drones. Passing birds were only moderated poached

Facebook had drones for years now. They call them "users".

With C++11 we got variadic templates to allow defining a single template that can take an arbitrary number of parameters. Congrats on finally getting 'params' (modern!)
|
|
|
|
|
C introduced varargs, C++ inherited them.
Here they are talking about template arguments, not function arguments. Java/C# and most "modern" languages have no equivalent to templates. Generic classes in those two languages are a pale, inferior and inefficient imitation.

... and a half dozen years after I first started seeing hype about variadic templates I finally see a plain english explanation of why I should care.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Microsoft describes the feature as a way to control external monitors with a tablet and no mouse. For those who've always wanted to use their expensive tablets to replace a cheap mouse

Squeee!!!!
I read the article and I'm still not sure what the point of that feature is.

Sounds like something that was probably originally intended for Windows Phone 10. Being able to use your fondleslab as the touchpad would mean you'd only need a keyboard+monitor dock.

Microsoft has positioned artificial intelligence as being as important as Windows, Office and Cloud. Here's why. Because the other kind is becoming in short supply

In any given industry the second company to integrate AI is going to struggle to catch up to the first company to integrate AI. There will be no third company in the race.

Think of all the poor IT eployees who will lack a job when all you have to do is scream at the computer for the AI to kick in and fix their problem.

Angular 3 will have better tooling and will generate less code; Google also is promising a new major version twice a year Best new feature? No rewrite required!

WTF
New major versions twice a year isn't a promise, it's a threat. They haven't even figured out how to provide JS documentation, everything's in Typescript!

Unless they plan on making bugfixes major versions. But then they're breaking semver, which will net them even more bad press than they got with the massive ng2 overhaul breaking changes.

I love those guys in their dev lab, but they really need to learn to target a platform and refine it, not tear it back up and lay it back out constantly.

.NET Core was released a few months ago, and data access libraries for most databases, both relational and NoSQL are now available. In this post, I’ll detail what client libraries are available, as well as show code samples for each of them. "Which of them shall I take? Both? one? or neither?"
