Older people struggle to remember important details because their brains can't resist the irrelevant 'stuff' they soak up subconsciously. As a result, they tend to be less confident in their memories, say researchers. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking with it

I came here earlier and got about half way through reading the post and got a call, they reminded me of something I had to do outside and when I got that done since I was outside I started washing the car, and while washing the mail came and I went out and chatted with the mail lady and she mentioned how beautiful her garden was so I decided to go hoe mine. While hoing a customer came up and wanted some bait out of the store so I filled their order and talked to them about cameras and since I just got a new camera (Nikon D500, awesome machine) I thought it would be nice to take some pics of the garden. After that I started unwinding the stack and by the time I got back here and replied it's time for a power nap, I'm exhausted!

I am absolutely certain that is a bucket load of old bollocks - a sweeping generalization arrived at after testing .00000000001% of the population.
Although... my FIL was persuaded to get into a car and buy a fake leather jacket by a complete stranger he thought he knew. But he is 88 and can still work an Apple.

In this article Umer Mansoor, a San Francisco-based software developer, talks about the importance of writing less code and revisits some of Jeff Atwood’s most important lessons. I've written no code, I'm done for the day.

Many entry and junior level developers have perfected the art of writing less code. They simply type ctrl-c ctrl-v and walla, it works!

As overhead last week, our CTO telling one of our devs, "don't create a component for that, just copy and paste the code because we'll probably only use it in two places."

A few years ago I invented what I called the deleting hour...It was about deleting 'dead' code...Probably the most productive hour of my week...At least according to article...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

I have a better one: write negative code. In other words, delete code. Several times I have fixed bugs by removing code altogether.

Unfortunately, the wheel is often not round, is punctured, improperly inflated, or can't handle the road conditions, or all of the above.

I often spend most of my time analysing a problem, and 5 minutes at the end of the day writing 3 lines of code. The point is that they are the correct 3 lines of code.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

The ability to Reset Windows 10 -- re-installing the OS while keeping, or removing your personal files -- is a great idea (although admittedly not as good as being able to install Windows over the top of itself as you could with XP), and now Microsoft is spinning it off into a standalone tool. Sadly, it won't let you start anew with Windows 7
