Redmond will support it inside Azure and send code back to the FreeBSD Foundation OpenVMS coming soon?

Ohhh and RSTS/E and RT-11 too.
Just for old times sake.

Why can't they just put out Hyper-V drivers like they did for Linux support? Is the BSD world balking at including them in any of the standard distros?

We’ve removed all of the old IE workarounds and taken advantage of some of the more modern web APIs where it made sense. "New look, same great taste!"
Or bad taste, depending on how you feel about jQuery.

Now all the crap from old IE is gone. I will say good bye jQuery.
I do not fear of failure. I fear of giving up out of frustration.

More like time to let go of the old IE and if there are still people using it......that's their problem!

I was expecting more from a new major version than just doing a feature freeze on the 1.x (IE6-8) branch (1.x and 2.x were feature compatible). When jQuery 2.0 came out they said the biggest remaining bag of WTFs and hacks was Android 2.x browser. With Android 2.x down to just over a 2% market share I was expecting them to've dropped support for it. Dropping IE9/10 support also seemed reasonable; they're both out of support and less used than IE6-8 were when 2.x launched (7% according to net Marketshare, 3% in Statcounter's numbers).

Back in 2015, Google-owned company DeepMind gave its AI access to a series of Atari 2600 games, 49 of which it learned to play its own. Just don't get it started on "Global Thermonuclear War"

The stereotype of older people having trouble using new technology is nothing more than that -- a stereotype. But you can still get off the lawn
|
|

But, is the flipside true? Are younger workers willing to use older technology?
I had a co-worker (maybe 30 at the time), that quit her job because she "only wanted to work with new technology" when asked to learn and support a legacy system written in FORTran on an ALPHA/VMS platform.
And.. these 10+ years later, the application is still in use. There are plans to replace it, but that requires a large expenditure of time and money at multiple sites.

As with many of these old systems, I cannot think of a new technology I would have any confidence will be around in another 20 years. Computing is in a sorry state when that is the case.

I'm not entirely sure many younger workers can really cope with new technology either.

Many computer users are delaying hardware upgrades and instead refreshing their existing machines with the free Windows 10 upgrade offer from Microsoft, which is scheduled to expire toward the end of next month. Maybe if they bundle the new computer with a Windows 7 disc?

For me the fault isn't Microsoft, but Intel's delays with Kaby Lake and Optane.

This is bogus: BITS wasn't fooled. A program with admin access told BITS to do something and it did it. Once you have admin/root access, any accusations of compromise are specious.
