Given that Microsoft has a history of aggressively using software patents against free software, we decided to take a look at the legal details. There's no pleasing some people
|
|
|
|

If you live in the EU, for example, you don't have to give much about "software patents" anyways. As far as I know, you can't really patent software here, so who cares?

If you want to confine your market to the EU then no problem. But if you want to sell in the US, then you care.

I want to share with you a comparison that I did this weekend between the high-order programming features from LINQ and those being incorporated into the new Java 8 streams API. Comparing apples and pineapples

I wonder if anything's changed in the two years since that article was posted?

I just came here to snark the same. Since at the point the article was written the author was pulling from the libraries development source and noted that the API was still undergoing significant improvement, I think the answer to that question is "probably".
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Ah, saw "March 24" and skipped the year. Mea culpa. Can any of you ever forgive me?

That depends - how much beer are you offering?

Starting at $499, it’s the most powerful Surface that doesn’t have “Pro” in its name. I guess RT is no more (would be nice if they announced it though)

It was going to be great, I just knew it would be A solid 4th place contender for tablet OSes. Maybe 5th - behind Etch-a-sketch.

I'd love to know how it performs. Carrying one of them around airports (and not taking it out at security!) beats a laptop.

I'm a little worried that it only has an Atom. Not sure how that will deal with Windows 10 (or 8.1). I'm guessing browsing would be OK, but VS might be iffy. I am getting curious though, and that's a step up from previous Surfaces (Surfi?)

The biggest issue for me is the 128GB cap. I lived with that on my Macbook for a couple of years but had to bust out and go bigger.
But yes - Atom would make life leisurely. And I'm guessing you'd need gloves to hold the thing after hitting VS hard (though Roslyn may mean this is less of an issue)
Close, but maybe next year.

I thought that's what "Windows 8 RT will not have an upgrade path to Windows 10" was.
