NY Times 02/14/15 "One by one, museums across the United States have been imposing bans on using selfie sticks for photographs inside galleries (adding them to existing rules on umbrellas, backpacks, tripods and monopods), yet another example of how controlling overcrowding has become part of the museum mission." [^]
«I'm asked why doesn't C# implement feature X all the time. The answer's always the same: because no one ever designed, specified, implemented, tested, documented, shipped that feature. All six of those things are necessary to make a feature happen. They all cost huge amounts of time, effort and money.» Eric Lippert, Microsoft, 2009

Is Microsoft looking to Android vendors like Cyanogen and Samsung to give the Redmond company a leg up in the mobile space? "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"

Having just switched from an Android phone to a Windows Phone one I can tell that the Microsoft OS is superior in every aspect to Android. It's faster (fast! really fast! less-than-second response times with respect to the tens-of-seconds->crash->reboot->tens of seconds of the former Android phone. BTW it was a 600€ Android while this is a 120 € Nokia, so it's not price range), stabler and easy on the battery - I used it intensively today and it has still 35% power left, the former phone was at 70% after 10 minutes of navigation).
There is one and only one flaw in Windows Phone: it lacks apps. This is a vicious circle because without apps many people won't buy Windows Phone, so developers are less incentivated to develop apps - there's no end to it. My hope right now is that Nokia well renowned and earned reputation of quality joint to the extremely lower prices of average handsets will carve a bigger market share for Microsoft in order to break this unending spiral of doom.

I loved my Windows Phone. It was easy to use and looked good too.
But I just switched to Android just because of the lack of apps...
Found myself app-less on a few occassions and got fed up. It's a shame really

Apart from the browser and Facebook I rarely use apps, mostly Viber (5-6 times / year) and FB messenger. Google maps is there, the mail client is way better than Gmail, the keyboard is comfortable altough not very customizable.
Right now I feel pretty satisfied, as I am much more impatient than esigent in terms of functionalities. The sluggish speed and the tens of crashes experenced with Android finished all my tech patience, also it is cheap so if I'll ever repent of having bought it the financial damage is minimum.
One thing I really like: the characters are big. Being I really short-sighted I really enjoy the added readability

Exception Filters are a new feature in C# 6 which allows you to specify conditions along with a catch block. The catch block is only executed if the condition satisfies. catch(Exception ex) if (ex.Source="C#" && ex.Message.Contains("v.Next"))

Yaaaawn... We've had this for years in VB.NET! About time C# caught up!
That's right VB haters! Better show some respect!
For the record, I love C#, but VB.NET was my first love and I kind of have a weakness for it...
And VB.NET doesn't deserve the hate it's getting (ok, some of it)

I notice your signature contains C# code, not VB.

Dude, with the tpye and quality of a lot of the questions that show up around here, I wouldn't doubt someone doesn't have a clue about what they put in their signature.
