In this article I will talk about another kind of pointer which is much more common in most Rust programs: borrowed pointers (aka borrowed references, or just references). Something borrowed, something referenced.

Massive leaps in computing power, hidden layers, hardware backdoors -- encrypting sensitive data from prying eyes is more precarious than ever I do believe that man is trying to start a war with that title.

Whether or not that’s actually true isn’t certain, but Simo Suoheimo is betting that he and the rest of the people at Ambronite can deliver the same fast nutrition as Soylent while using whole foods instead of powders and pills. And after that, I don't want to have to brush my teeth myself no more neither.

It’s always odd to hear people say RSS is dead. The fact is, RSS is easily the most successful stealth, insurgent technology on the web. It is pervasive and is the engine for much of the Internet. If you strike me down I shall become ... precisely as powerful as you imagined.

eeeeeew! That page's background is giving me flashbacks to the '90s.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies.

First, I have to agree with Dan Neely... my eyes now hurt.
Second, although I've never used RSS per se myself, it is used where I work.
We have a twice a month requirement to check for updates for our third party software. A few years back, someone in the group added an RSS feed from the vendor to our Intranet page showing any new patch releases.
It seems to have worked well until the vendor redesigned their support site and killed the RSS feed; I am now seeing messages from them saying the RSS feed is back. I suspect they weren't aware of how much is was being used.

Waking up to a string of missed calls is rarely a harbinger of good, and this time proved no different. Upon returning the calls I was greeted with a simple “You’ve been hacked.” Great. Something tells me the founder of 4chan has had many, many bad days.

Volvo Car Group’s “Drive Me” project — featuring 100 self-driving Volvos on public roads in everyday driving conditions — is moving forward rapidly, with the first test cars now driving around the Swedish city of Gothenburg. In neutral Sweden, car drives you!

It's great - now a single software error can kill thousands on road!
I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is. (V)

Now? Why now? Cars are already full of software controlling many functions of your car (including breaks, power, traction, ...). There are many possibilities for software errors already existing which could be deadly.

True but we still have the human factor! Imagine a human-less car!

When we first started covering mobile, nearly every silicon vendor I spoke with issued the same statement: eventually, all phones are smartphones. Don't buy a new phone! Wait, buy JUST one more new phone.

The little printer lets users choose any color on the web, or in the real world, and using simple already-existing software, print that color into a blush, eye shadow, lip gloss or any other type of makeup. Stop me if you've heard this one before.

Yep, the quoted text is from the previous post.

When Brent Williams got to RadioShack that day in the spring of 2012, he knew exactly what he was looking for: a variable resistor, a current regulator, a circuit board, and a 9-volt battery. The total came to around $20. Williams is tall and balding, with wire-rim glasses that make him look like an engineer, which he is. He directs a center on technology in education at Kennesaw State University and is the kind of guy who spends his free time chatting up people on his ham radio or trying to glimpse a passing comet with his telescope. But this project was different.
Sound convenient? It is. Sound scary? It is.
