We evaluated nearly 20 nominees and ultimately chose seven finalists, which we then looked at in great depth. The vote tally ranked the top six products as follows: three finalists, two runners up who are awarded the Jolt Productivity Award, and finally, the winner of the Jolt Award for best programmer library released during the last 12 months. Sorry, not complete. CListCtrl is not here.

In the developed world, even the most passionate technology proponents sometimes find themselves wondering if being constantly "plugged in" means leading a less fulfilling existence. The verdict is still out on that one. But for most of the world, the relationship between happiness and technology is highly positive. "Anyone who has studied psychology, sociology, anthropology, or any of the other wacko-and-wog disciplines knows the three great rules of the social sciences: Folks do lots of things. We don't know why. Test on Friday."

After a month-long investigation into allegations of sexual harassment at GitHub, the company’s CEO Chris Wanstrath announced that cofounder Tom Preston-Werner has resigned. Preston-Werner and his wife Theresa were under scrutiny for sexual and gender-based harassment, and for creating a sexist and hostile work environment. The investigation didn't find any legal wrongdoing, but he stepped down anyway....sounds like there is more to this story

Until now, the only images you could see on Google Maps were the latest images. Starting today, however, you will also be able to go back in time and see older images. "I would definitely go back. Everything cool is gone. The Aztecs. People killing themselves for each other."

Thank you for recognizing!
That movie, Moon, and Robot & Frank definitely demonstrated that you don't need a huge budget to create a good SF movie. (IMO)

Ouch. I think "In a sense, it’s tradition to de-emphasize good communication skills." is the single worst sentence I have read this month.

Seems appropriate for an article about bad communication skills, isn't it?

Microsoft revealed earlier this month that the Start Menu will return to Windows 8. While Microsoft is keeping the timing for its return vague, sources familiar with the company’s plans tell The Verge that the Start Menu will likely be available in a second update to Windows 8.1 currently scheduled for August. For those waiting (the Windows key and Windows-X do everything I need)

Microsoft's career website is often a treasure trove of information if you are willing to dig through the thousands of job postings the company currently has available. Often, through these postings, you can see the direction Microsoft is taking internally with its products and this helps the observer, better understand Microsoft's vision. "The footprint of these smaller operating systems is in the order megabytes - not gigabytes."
