Why on earth is this a suspended sentence?
I've seen shoplifters and pot-smokers get worse punishment!

This is the biggest joke of a 'landmark' case I've ever seen. They basically gave him a stern talking to, made him say sorry and then let him go outside and play before a quick timeout. That's the equivalent of the suspended sentence and small restitution. Guarantee those fines are just a drop in the bucket compared to what he made off the scams.

At its Build developers conference today, Microsoft announced the launch of the first release candidate of Visual Studio 2013 Update 2. While this may sound like a minor update, it’s actually a big step forward for Visual Studio and Microsoft itself calls it one of the most significant updates it has done for Visual Studio yet. If they could just add the ability to make coffee, it might be complete

But you need Windows 8.1 for that

For the coffee part? I hope not.
For the best of the features[^] (sadly very RC), Win7 and up.

You may not have noticed, but most people already are (that's if they're lucky enough to have jobs).

At its Build 2014 conference today, Microsoft unveiled Windows 8.1 Update 1, coming via Windows Update on April 8. What a horrid product name. Oh well, break out the MP3 of "Start me up" for nostalgia

I'm waiting for Windows 8.1 Update 1 Update 1
Not sure why they wouldn't just call it 8.2, although from reading about it there seems to just be a handful of UI tweaks nothing really major in the update.

Why not just call it Windows 8.2?

Because they want to have all windows versions on the same versioning scheme. Win 8.1 and Win Phone 8.1.

Soooo...they just figured out that desktop users use a mouse?

At least one step. When will they find out that some desktop users also use a keyboard?
|
|
|
|
|
Next version, they will figure out that more than one app at a time can be viewed on a 24" screen
|
|
|

I am not sure. But I hope that they might think of such an odd thing in that strangely rare case when two monitors are connected with the smartphone computer.

As part of Microsoft's BUILD 2014 keynote address, the company announced Universal Windows apps, a way for developers to create apps that will work across all of Microsoft's Windows platforms and form factors. Write once, run everywhere (mostly)

At its Build developer event in San Francisco today, Microsoft announced the launch of its oft-rumored voice-driven Cortana personal assistant. Cortana, which seems to have some of Siri’s humor, gets its knowledge from Microsoft’s Bing. It will be a built-in part of Windows Phone 8.1. Please don't get it to call you, "Master Chief"

I still think they should've went with GLaDOS.

I posted this above, and I should have posted it here.
I noticed that "Cortana" is an anagram of "An Actor".
It's also the name of a Halo 4 character.
A one or two syllable name typically could be spoken quicker, but then maybe they found "Cortana" is easier to recognize in noise? I am curious what criteria were used to choose that name?
