Does relying on technology harm our senses and emotions? Thus fulfilling Betteridge's Law of Headlines for today.

A long time ago, when some cavemen invented archiculture, someone made the exact same argument.
Technology doesn't make us less human, it changes the definition of being human.

On the contrary, I think we've ceased to be human ever since that fire got invented

You definitely want to be the legendary caveman-genius who figured out how to make fire.
The one who invented milking cows on the other hand will always be thought of as a bit of a weirdo...

Ever since we couldn't hit the female of our choice on the head and drag her off to bed.

Firefox 23 launched Tuesday and it has finally killed off the blink tag, an annoying staple of the Web's early days It is survived by cat videos and "under construction" graphics. It will not be missed.

With the stock market constantly rising and falling, it's hard to predict what kind of luck you'll have when you retire and how much you should be saving so you don't run out of money. One financial expert, however, has found the magic retirement savings rates for most people. Which is about how much longer I'll have to work before retirement

A team of goddamn heroes (scientists) has gone and found a way to make booze out of used coffee grounds, finally bridging the gap between two of the most popular pastimes on the planet. If you need me, I'll be building an altar in their honour

Seems like a lot of extra work to end up with coffee flavored alcohol without the caffeine. I can add alcohol to my coffee right now and get the best of both worlds.

Yeah, that part is definitely missing, but it's just a start. Hopefully they'll figure out how to keep the caffeine in there.
Now you have me thinking about an Irish coffee. I think it's time somewhere...

You can only produce secure web applications by taking security into account, from the start. This requires thinking of the potential ways someone could attack your site as you create each page, form, and action. It also requires understanding the most common types of security problems and how to address them. Respect yourself, protect yourself

The World Wide Web Consortium is moving closer to a local Web storage application programming interface, which will make HTML5 Web-based applications much more powerful. Yeah, letting the browser save a local file. What's the worst that can happen?

Hmm, a key-value store, limited to one per site, so different web app's can overwrite each other's key store without careful use of names.
Effectively a big global variable hash table. That's progress. All managed by a single mutex.
I guess this was largely limited by the browser vendor's racing to implement something - as usual the standard is defined by what people have implemented already.
Ironically, all this the same day as it is announced blink is finally removed.

To understand a broad topic, sometimes you need more than a quick answer. Our research indicates perhaps 10% of people’s daily information needs fit this category -- topics like stem cell research, happiness, and love, to name just a few. That's why over the next few days we’ll be rolling out a new feature to help you find relevant in-depth articles in the main Google Search results. But can they give me urgentz codez?

In a world where Google promotes its browser on YouTube, in cinema pre-rolls, and on billboards, the clear audience is not developers. It’s the mass market - the users. The overwhelming majority. They don’t know it works like this. They don’t expect it to be this easy to see their passwords. Every day, millions of normal, every-day users are saving their passwords in Chrome. This is not okay. This is why I just use "password" everywhere (don't tell anyone)

Except for my bank, (Lloyds TSB in the UK to name and shame) who won't let me use non-alphanumeric characters for some reason.

Mozilla and Google have updated their browsers with features to help developers more effectively write and debug their websites. In related news, IE maintains it's best feature: the ability to download Firefox or Chrome
