PyPI, the official third-party registry of open source Python packages has temporarily suspended new users from signing up, and new projects from being uploaded to the platform until further notice. Temporary suspension has been lifted, but add this to the pile of known PyPI abuse.

Why do I think, that this should have been implemented way sooner?

With the release of Bing Chat and its partnership with OpenAI, Microsoft has managed to place itself at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) and is outperforming tech rivals such as Google. As a result, most of the announcements made at the Microsoft Build 2023 developer conference relate to AI. And just to mix it up a little ... here's some more AI news.

Microsoft has just made a pretty remarkable admission, essentially conceding that it doesn’t have a solution for some Windows 11 problems. 'Cause I remember all the times I tried so hard And you laughed in my face 'cause you held the cards I don't care anymore

I can only say...
Windows 3.11, Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, Windows 10, Windows 11...
If Microsoft continues their "one Good, one Crappy" version serie... then the next one should be kind of usable again

My absolute fave on the list was Windows 2000. Lightening fast and solid as a rock.
Win 7 was pretty good with Win 10 only slightly behind.

Pour one out for WinRAR because Microsoft just announced Windows 11 will natively support RAR and a bunch of other archive formats that Windows users have been waiting decades for. WinRAR's massive revenue stream from all those registered users is going to dry up now.

on of the first things to switch off asap to avoid new attack vectors... ... i wonder who was waiting for this for decades...

I don't know... but if they have been preparing just a 10th of the time (just in case)... ASAP is not going to be fast enough.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates believes the future top company in artificial intelligence will likely have created a personal digital agent that can perform certain tasks for people. If ChatGPT can automatically append "-quora" on to every Google search I make, I may think of switching.

A couple of months ago, Microsoft added generative AI features to Windows 11 in the form of a taskbar-mounted version of the Bing chatbot. Starting this summer, the company will be going even further, adding a new ChatGPT-driven Copilot feature that can be used alongside your other Windows apps. Clippy 2.0

A team of theoretical physicists have discovered a strange structure in space-time that to an outside observer would look exactly like a black hole, but upon closer inspection would be anything but: they would be defects in the very fabric of the universe. Or, "A theorized defect in space time that appears to be a black hole."

These are not "defects:" they are cavities caused by excessive junk-food binges on young sugar stars.

And how the can a "strage structure in space-time" be discovered?
Doesn't it imply some kind of paradox itself?

I own an original, US copy of this game and while looking through my old CDs a few weeks ago, I wanted to take it for a spin, having played this game the last time many-many years ago. When I tried installing and running the game now, I encountered exactly the same issues as you did. I was not prepared for "a 21-year-old obscure PC game" to be for Windows XP.

Time goes faster than we think... Heck... I am already 17 years here and it seems it was the day before yesterday. (I started due to issues programming MFC in Windows XP and VC++ 6)

I retired a year and a half ago after having worked for twenty-six years as a programmer for Apple. I’m not sure which would have been more surprising: if I had continued programming in my spare time after I had retired or if I never programmed again. Brought to you by the creator of Glypha.

All, I am doing something in this post that I’ve never done before over these many years. I’m going to share with you an example of what Google account recovery failure means to the people involved, and this is by no means the worst such case I’ve seen — not even close, unfortunately. See this is why I don't login with Google.
