Use an SSD.
In the past I found that /incremental caused problems and relatively little improvement on overall build time. Properly done precompiled headers and the /MP switch have been the real boosts.

According to workplace design expert Alan Hedge at Cornell, 74 percent of workers say they face "many" instances of disturbances and distractions from noise. Headphones. They're made for a reason.

How about having toy drones smash into your head? I think that's a bit more distracting.
In the last place I worked they bought all these toy drones as a reward for completing a deadline. During the break the guys were trying them out and it turns out they are very hard to control...

Once upon a time, Google’s Dart programming language seemed ready to take on JavaScript as the default language of the web. I'd make a bulls-eye joke here, but I know nothing about darts
That's the one you play with a beer in the other hand right? Or is that ping pong?

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?

New collaboration tools for designers embrace the Material Design philosophy. Assuming your definition of "beautiful" is "looks like Google apps"

How about apps that actually work and put function ahead of form?

That's crazy talk, that is.

Microsoft announced the next big update to Windows 10 at its Surface event today. It's called the Window 10 Creators Update and it'll be available as a free download this spring. Creator's Update. Well, at least they didn't call it "Windows 10 Update 2 We're really going to shove this one"

That Surface Studio is a killer.

Holy crap. Microsoft had a Surface event today and I totally forgot.
So what's the Surface 5 like?
Oh. No surface 5. Lots of talk about Satya being passionate about the company. And VR goggles.
Almost as bad as the iPhone 7 event a few weeks ago. What has happened to the industry? Where is the needless saturation of new, rushed, incrementally different products?
cheers

Well, that Surface Studio really is impressive, although I'd like to have just the display and stand, along with dial and pen, and use my own replaceable, "real" desktop PC hardware with it. It has a lot of power, but it's the black-box nature I don't like.
And, yes, I'd prefer if they stopped tagging reach release now with a stupid name. Just call it Windows 10.3 (it's the third revision since the initial release). Or does Apple have a patent on the version numbering scheme for the tenth version of an operating system?

In a recent interview with Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, at approximately 14:20 in the interview, he made a quick point about coding with “good taste”. "Taste is the enemy of creativeness."
|
|
|
|

He does have a very good point there.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
The metaphorical solid rear-end expulsions have impacted the metaphorical motorized bladed rotating air movement mechanism.
Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???

Similar to code cleanliness. Or to paraphrase an alleged quote attributed to Einstein: "Make code as simple as possible, but no simpler."

I promise to code with 'good taste' if Linus promise to behave in the same way...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.
