Work just upgraded me to a new Latitude E6330 with an i7, 8Gigs of memory and a 250Gig SSD running windows 8 64 bit. Setting up chrome, firefox, SQL Server, web platform installer, and VS2010 and 2012 but it seems pretty nice so far.

I also have a new one, but not as grand. A Lenovo T520, with i3, 4GB ram. I'll be adding SSD and another 4GB in about two weeks though. But this thing has one of the most comfortable, if not best laid out, laptop keyboards I have ever used.

T series is the best, bit bulky but awesome. I have older T series laptop, still rocking.
Thinkpad keyboards are the best, after that comes Apple, and after that older Dell Latitude and Precision laptops (new ones have bit stiff keyboard).

I'm just happy the keyboard has the same layout as my last one. It's a slow process learning to avoid the insert key.

My new layout is killing me, these first few days. I hope I can untrain past habits and train in new ones this weekend.

Not bad for a laptop, and better than my work desktop computer! If I get a sweet bonus this year, I'm going to get a MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM, a 750GB SSD, and so on. Well, unless my better sense kicks in at some point before then.

W8? Eww. Send me yours, and I'll send you a laptop I have with W7 on it. Fair exchange, right? RIGHT???

I'll see. A couple of nice features, the OS loads up iso files natively and the file share dialog has an email a link to the share button built into it. The rest of it hasn't driven me crazy yet, but we'll see.

Nice. BTW, I was curious about the price and went to the Dell site (US) and couldn't even configure the laptop for the I7, 8GB, and SSD. How did you get your configured that way?

I haven't a clue. The IT guys at my job bought a bunch of them, so it probably isn't one of the standard configurations.

I always call directly and orders it exactly like I want it. That way I also get a much better price in contrary to what one may believe.

Congrats, Andy! Great stuff, indeed. I guess, it's also equipped with USB 3.0?
On a separate note, just a minor correction: it spells "Obligatory"
Have a good one.

Nice, now just get an E series docking station, and you are all set.
I have E6500 with dock and 2 screens, and sometimes I even forgot that it's a Laptop. The only crazy thing is, it gets very hot when it is on dock (It is the graphics card trying to handle dual 24" screens).
|
|
|
|
|
I've got two docking stations. One at my desk and one at my treadmill both with dual 19" monitors. Nothing as nice as the 24" though. The monitor upgrades got squashed because they didn't fit in the right budget category.

dual monitors are always good, doesn't matter how big or small, two small monitors are much better than one huge screen (for work related PC). I have tried 3 screens but they were too much...almost overkill.

Not for me, I've used 3 and it worked great.

Install VS2012 before VS2010. They can live side-by-side, but the 2012 install fubar's the 2010 install.
Damn, that's a nice system.

Since it is a new lappie, I would suggest WinPatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/[^]) to have Scotty monitor unwanted program additions in the background.

Thanks for the advice, but I think the sys admins wouldn't appreciate me trying to second guess all the security applications they load the systems down with.
