Ugh, free APIs and request limits do me no favors debugging-wise.
How the heck does one manage? What a slog!

Nah, and the problem is weirder than that. I didn't overshoot my request limit - they BANNED MY IP. *grrr*
A cohort can use my API key from where he is a thousand miles away. But not me. This of course was after I had written all the code to integrate their service.
OpenWeather is on my no fun list now.
I'm working on integrating weather.gov, although the JSON in it is godawful.

If it's anything like my server, too many errors logged in a short time will get your IP blocked for a while, but then unblocked.
In my case, the initial block is from 30 minutes to a couple of hours.
Repeat offenders (twice in a day) get wiped out for weeks.
Might be worth a gentle poke after a cooling off period.

Yeah, I gave it an hour earlier tonight, before firing off a message to support. I preserved the code so I can use it again if it was some sort of simple SNAFU but otherwise I'm moving on.
Free Weather API - WeatherAPI.com[^] was recommended by someone on reddit and it is pretty close to what I'm looking for. I just wish they returned *less* data. I need to use a streaming JSON parser rather than an in-memory DOM to digest it.

Yeah, my local govt weather API returns 72 hours worth of 10 minute obs when I want just the current. At least it did last time I looked.

Crazy thought....
Let's say we could organize/motivate all (or at least 20%) CP members (about 15,330,904 members), it would be an easy buy for us as a community

If you're paying $300k you're probably a collector with more money than sense; and could have a background in anything from successful tech company founder to picked really rich parents at birth.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Also, if you need the Apple ][ Red Book (setup & instruction manual) you can still get it at:
Apple II Redbook : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive[^]
Here's a snippet on how to get StarTrek running in himem...
Apple ][ red book:
Running 16K Startrek
If you have 16K Bytes or larger memory in your Apple, you will also receive a "STARTREK" game tape. Load this program just as you did the previous two, but before you "RUN" it, type in "HIMEM: 16384" to set exactly where in memory this program is to run.
Wow, is that where himem (from old config.sys) idea got started? Interesting.
