I hate morphine. Yes, it works. Yes, it takes away the pain.
But for me it's "instant Alzheimer's" time: two or three weeks of no short term memory. Long term use will do that as well, but for me one jab is enough. My mother had it as well, so possibly it has a genetic component.
Personally, I'd rather live with the pain ...
Herself takes Zomorph twice a day, and the fridge has several bottles of Oromorph - it helps her a lot with hip and spine arthritis.
Hopefully, whatever they cut you open for, they fixed?

I prefer to work. I want to earn my worth. With pain, I can't, so I keep telling myself I need this.
With pain, I don't sleep. Have you ever been awake for five days in a row? At day four, you hear things. Day five you see things.
OriginalGriff wrote: Hopefully, whatever they cut you open for, they fixed? Kind of; it cannot be fixed, only cut out. In time, it comes back.

Not the best age to have it; one wants to work and gets more limited every year.
Docters saying "accept it", but your parents say to try, push. Both be true. There's a middle road, that I did not find, I simply tried to cheat.
Biologicals didn't work for me, I'm still on immunosuppressants. Which doesn't sound like the best idea during a COVID pandemic.
Also, for you as a parent; being sick is not a negative - it helped me value food (after 4 weeks of being fed by a bag hooked up to a vein and the only recreation a TV with MacDonalds commercials). I don't even like MacDonalds food, but even after a week without food you're less picky.
The only thing you can do, is to invite him for dinner after any incident. After being sick, or operated on, you lost calories, and you need those. Have him eat, and good luck. If you ever need me, I'll always be on CP.

Hope they fixed whatever was wrong.
Have had kidney stones twice and had to take Morphine, without it I wouldn't have made it.

Happened a few times. Always scares the sh*t out of people, so you don't want to.

Good luck Eddy, never having suffered (touch wood) that much pain and therefore never having needed that much relief I can only sympathise with your plight. Stay strong and make sure you have a support network to help.

Pain in itself is not a problem, but it keeps you awake. If you awake too long, you go crazy.
I know. I been there.

I admitted to being a junky, there cannot ever be a wow on that. Maybe you meant it for something else, but stop applauding for a sec.
Got medication for the time and be planning to lower it coming monday. Can't stop at once, the body "needs" it now.
Will keep CP updated, and using my real name. I'm "easily addicted" to anything, but can happen to people from all classes and culture. Yes, I know future employees see this. Know what?

Your son seen combat; I never did. Just some minor surgeries, and got seduced with the medication I got. Got a pump, and push a button to inject a dose.
I been living with pain for over 32 years, and anything that works, works. After some time, one stops being picky, anything that helps I pay for.

On these days, I should not touch the keyboard and just read some Pratchett. Soon (TM), I will, and the idiot posts here go away.
There's people here monitoring my progress. Posted here, all excuses gone, so I need to detox. So, now I have to show that I can do this. Potential employers will see this and judge me. Yeah, that's my real name. Once, that was a ticket to work.
For all those in my situation, no matter the drug (I did Ayahusca before morphine, so won't ever judge), seek help or mail me.
There's a lot of help available. And I will help any way I can.

Having lost a mother and a brother to drug abuse, I sincerely hope and pray that you recover. BTW they were both doing Alcohol along with the pain killers. I will remember you in my prayers.

Half of my family is drinking. After first surgery, I got this pump with morphine, and you'd press a button. After two days, they took the pump away because I kept pushing that damned button.
I do not know what drove your family to painkillers. But that's what they are and do. My respect for your mother, I shall burn a candle in her name tonight.
I could use her help right now.

Wtf.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?

Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???
