I've said it earlier this week and I'll say it again...
These people are fearing for their lives, their loved ones, their homes and their country.
If you're more concerned with "politics in the Lounge" than the well-being of your fellow CP'ians, you lack empathy.
There's little we can do, but at least 0x01AA is asking these members how they are doing and letting them know he's thinking about them.
It may just be what keeps these people going, because they know the world is cheering for them (well, except for you and some other members apparently, because how dare they get political in the Lounge).
Not everything is about politics, sometimes it's just about caring for your fellow human beings and not wanting them to die.
I've said this twice now this week, I guess programmers really are a bunch of anti-social cynics

The USA invading Iraq now would probably cause the same kind of reaction, but I guess we won't know until something like that happens again.
Maybe it's because (social) media is dominated by western people and Ukraine is a western country while Iraq isn't.
Whatever the case, it's no reason to not support our Ukrainian members right now.
Especially when one posts about his situation in person.
To me, the only acceptable reaction to any CP member posting "I might die any moment now, but I just wanted to let you know I'm still alive." is a reaction of support: "stay strong", "we're thinking about you", "let's hope it'll stop soon" or even "thoughts and prayers".
Going out of your way to tell them their misery somehow bothers you is not an acceptable reaction.

We don't lack empathy, Sander. I don't lack empath, Sander.
Speaking for myself only here, I don't need to be reminded 20 times a day, every day, how sad the situation is with Ukraine; it's too much.
I have people on my team who are from the Ukraine, and I have been dealing with them personally during these difficult times for them. So don't preach to me about empathy.
Get off your high horse, and stop preaching your holier than thou crap.

All I'm seeing is a CP member who needs support from this community, but isn't getting it because people heard enough about his misery (you, specifically) and there's a no politics in the Lounge rule.
Not only is he not getting support, he's made to feel unwelcome.
Poor guy even apologized for letting us know he's still alive.
Arthur isn't spamming it, he isn't out for a political discussion and he's made significant contributions to this site over the years.
So, how difficult is it to say something nice like "Good luck, hope it gets better soon!" or even not say anything at all?

I've rarely visited Codeproject during the peaceful times but now it was even harder because it took me a while to get back on (sort of) track. And once I've got here it was really pleasant for me to know that topic starter cared to ask about my wellbeing.
And then I've read your comment. Why are you so offended by another person taking their time to care about others? Why are you so afraid of getting political? Is it something like political people or people who display empathy are forbidden to enter the finest restaurants of your city? Does the fact that yesterday missile exploded the house one block away from my home damage your wellbeing too much?
Or maybe you simply think that if russia preaches that the West is their enemy for the last couple of decades this war will end here and won't touch you if (God forbid) Ukraine fails?

According to the current statistics, already 1M of Ukrainians or about that, abandoned their homes and crossed the border with the neighboring countries on the west to escape the military conflict area. And nobody knows what comes next.

Hello Arthur
The news is unbearable and the situation is unbearable and very depressing.
At least a very small glimmer of hope is that the majority of European countries are taking in refugees from Ukraine without any bureaucracy.
I also feel people's willingness to accept people from Ukraine unconditionally.
Kind regards
Bruno

Thank you so much. I'm nice to hear from you that Canadians would unconditionally be taking the refugees from Ukraine, as well.

Did I mention Canada? I think no, I'm living in Europe

I'm very sorry, but I didn't know where are you living. As far as I can understand, the CodeProject is located in Toronto, Canada, so I thought that you are from Canada, too. I'm apologizing for it!!!

JFYI: The Medium Staff platform has launched a publications channel, called Views Into War, focused on the war in Ukraine. Nicely organized articles, providing an ability to listen to the audio instead of reading it:

Also, the first and second Ukrainian-Russian negotiation meetings, held in Minsk, Belorussia, aiming to stop the Russian military invasion, had no effect on the war situation, still. And, I'm very upset that the conflict won't come to its end, finally.
Thus, the only that must have been done by all of us is to wait and believe that the war will end, anyway and whatever it takes.

I'm apologizing, but I've not asked for the help or assistance of anyone on the Lounge. I just wanted to inform you and others in my previous posts about the gravity of the war situation in Ukraine, becoming more serious in the past few days.
Thanks for your understanding.

Nobody accused you! Myself started it and you answered
Nonetheless, can I maybe help you more specifically?
My only intention is to help people in Ukraine.
