So, what else is new?
The only reason they don't trust their employees is because they can't be trusted themselves.
I have had 2 perfect examples: one CEO spent more time watching porn than running the company.
The other one ran 2 companies and was supposedly most of the time at the "other" company while in reality he spent most of his time on his ( smallish ) yacht or boat.
Once you have reached that sort of level by cheating you obviously don't trust anyone below you.

Very sure; and Google's "apirl fools" is a marketing-gimmick, not the humor of someone trying to lighten up a bad situation.

if you think the jokes are a bad idea now,
just think what they'll be like after it's all over and in hindsight realise how badly [and many cases wrongly, rediculously, hopelessly] handled and it all was
... not to mention how over dramatized it all was with, lets face it: far too much [for supposedly 'rational' peoples'] panic driven absurdity.
or in less words: the reaction to this virus was (currently is)
- way over done,
- mostly wrong, and
- mass stupidity was allowed [encouraged?] to take hold.
and the consequences, the real consequences and not just empty toilet paper shelves, haven't even begun.
the only thing that is never wrong is humor,
if we can't laugh anymore humanity is forever lost.

The easiest solution:
If you don't like what you read, stop coming for a while to the lounge and read books instead.
EDIT:
Quote: But you XXXX trust at the You should change that.
Oh... an additional thought.
Maybe the you being a long member here (and indirectly having a high reputation) is having something to do that you are not getting directly nuked for your insults. But not exactly because of your reputation but maybe because we think we know you, we usually see that you are not a bad guy and we "guess" that you are pretty stressed by the situation at the moment...

Yes, it's their job, they chose it, they are paid for it with my taxes. They refuse? They should be fired instantly.

I was living in West Virginia at the time - and it was very common for both parents to be in the army reserves. They'd go for their training, but they would also go for that check they kept whilst in the reserves. Traditionally, easy money.
Then they started being mobilized - and started whining - especially when "Mom" and "Dad" were both called up. Well - there is one question I have to ask - why did you both join if you both weren't expecting to be treated like, well, members of the army reserve and possibly be mobilized? Was the easy money check all you were interested in or was it serving the country?
I won't for them and give an answer - but it does point out that when you take a job you should consider what happens if things go to the extreme scenarios. Don't join the army if you don't want to go to war; don't go into the medical field if you don't want to be around sick people. Yes - both of these can find themselves in a bad state if their luck doesn't hold out.
Finally - I'm not saying these people aren't working their asses off - and they are at a risk I would not take - but remember: this is what they signed up for . . . unless they were only in it for the money, and in that case, my sympathy wares thing.

Well I recommend 20 ft. Because if you are within 6 ft of me when I cough, in an enclosed environment, then you are screwed. On the other hand; I am not infected with anything, so you're good.
All I care about is that they delivered hotdog buns, but no hotdogs. I can not get hotdogs deliver from any source, to I guess I am stuck with a mustard and relish sandwich (bun).

Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
