You do realize the flu is more deadly than the coronavirus. The flu has a higher mortality rate. why is everyone making a stink about this virus and not he flu.
Not saying we should not be concerned but the media is causing this panic and this virus has been politicized at every level, and now the markets are tanking because if it.

Sometimes it is (Spanish flu), but usually it isn't.
Check the link I posted below and do your own math.
Average mortality in flu is 0.17%.

Sorry but pay attention and present how this 0.17 will be calculated

I'd leave it.
A certain-coloured person who lives in a certain coloured house says it's not a problem, and there are people who believe every word he says (and who would just love the Lounge to turn into Soapbox v2), so it's best to try not to be drawn into that kind of discussion.

It's my understanding, from the news, that the death rate is higher, which I believe is the reason behind the hysteria.

exactly my point. the news is spreading lies.
Corona virus is bad, no doubt, but not as bad as other contagions like the flu. Markets don't take a beating for the flu. Supply chains are not compromised because of the flu. but, they sure are for the C virus.
lol. whatever.

Slacker007 wrote: but not as bad as other contagions like the flu I guess it depends on perspective. If you look at total numbers, yes. If you look at percentages, no, the beer virus is worse. 4 out of 5 people know that numbers can always be spun to support any belief.

Why do you keep making it political? That might be why you are not getting the responses you wanted.

Coronavirus has a higher mortality rate, averaging about 2.3%, compared to the flu, which hovers around 0.05% to 0.1% in the U.S this year.
The flu is deadlier only by the vastly higher number of infections, but you have a lower chance of dying from it.
It follows that coronavirus kills more of the people it infects, but has a far lower infection rate, for now.
