I haven't used an Inkjet printer in so long, can't even remember the last time come to think of it.
Even though they almost give them to you; the cartridges are expensive, the printers are marginally junk and the firmware/software sucks and if you don't use them often the damn things don't work right.
I've had a mono laser forever and it just works. Want to go to color someday!
They call me different but the truth is they're all the same!

recently got a mono laser.
considered color but probably scanning docs/forms more required than printing.
so all I nreally need.
really need for color? [very rare] but something to do while visiting clients.
(yes I do ask permission, they're always fine as long as ask first and it's not an encylopedia)

I wanted colour because I print my own Christmas cards - that way I can have personalised ones for close friends, and a damn sight less Robins and glitter ...
If I want a Robin on a card, I'll use one Dij brought in and disemboweled!

Yeah cats are good about that but mine didn't take requests!

Neither does mine - but the requests were along the lines of "a chicken, you moron - or a whole cow would be nice".
I don't want to eat mice, voles, shrews, rats, sparrows, crows, moles, robins, sticks, leaves, or even the heron he keeps eyeing up speculatively.

There was even a song about it in Disney's Cinderella - "One Day My Prints Will Come".

But you have to admit it's handy to have an "all-in-one" ALL THE TIMES you suddenly have to send a fax???

they still use fax here in Asia,
... no choice because they keep eating the pigeons when you send documents that way.

OriginalGriff wrote: How much are basic flatbed scanners on Flea bay? Hmmmm....
I think I paid $70 (Canadian) for my Canon scanner (USB, single function) years ago, which must be the same if not even cheaper nowadays. Nothing fancy, but it'll handle up to 8.5" x 14" or so, so plenty good for most basic needs. The exact model is a Canon CanoScan LiDE 100.
Bonus (and this is sometimes important): I never had to install any of the bundled crapware to get it going, and every Windows OS I've used it with so far (7 x64 and above) has recognized it out of the box with no fussing with drivers.

Except for angry notes in the office. You are required by law to use Comic Sans for that!
