Yes, and more fool any employer who believes that is a measure of ability. And you can build a good total just by posting messages in the Lounge.

While it doesn't matter in he grand scheme of things, it tends to create (granted, very slightly) more needless anger and despondency...
Muting the downvote, hence, has a tiny health benefit to community while not costing anything important

Money isn't everything, but it keeps the kids in touch.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

The only time I go to StackOverflow is when it comes up in search results for something I'm researching. I gave up trying to post questions or answers there a long time ago. The site community is unilaterally hostile in tone. There seems to be an elaborate one-upmanship related to rejecting questions and answers for any reason whatsoever. The popularity of the site is an utter mystery to me.
Some of you have complained in the past about CP policies of one sort or another. Be grateful that Chris, his staff, and the immortal hamsters are all so conscientious. SO is a Lovecraftian swamp of gelatinous ichor in comparison.

Thanks. Being married to an English major who loves Lovecraft, having a daughter who runs a bookstore who also loves Lovecraft, and having a son-in-law who also runs a different bookstore, words rub off on you.
Lots and lots of words...

For some reason I can't post a solution, so I will put it here:
Here is a simple example to get you started, it prints the line numbers and the text of the lines:
this.FindWords("test.txt", "private");
private void FindWords(string fileName, string searchString)
{
string line;
int count = 1;
using (TextReader reader = File.OpenText(fileName))
{
while ((line = reader.ReadLine()) != null)
{
if (line.Contains(searchString))
{
Console.WriteLine(count + " " + line);
}
count++;
}
}
}
It would be a good idea to improve this with Regex search expressions, here is a nice Regex example (don't fear it aims to take away the complexity of Regex):

Far as I can tell, you can't get downvoted on SO - if you're not prevented from posting at all, then your posts get deleted altogether.
It just so happens that yesterday I wanted to add a comment to a question, but apparently I don't have the reputation points to "comment". But, I was able to post as an answer. Of course, my comment was not an answer so I fully expect my response to be gone by now...

Hi All,
It's Thursday always found the odd, at School we had sports (or being yelled by a Welshman, early) at Uni we had high voltage labs (or ozone and bad language, early) now get to work and the Network has bust between buildings. Too close to the weekend for comfort, not close enough for 'I'll do it Monday...

I often find Thursdays to be my most productive (okay, "busiest") day of the week since I try to avoid starting anything big on Fridays, and it's still too far away from Monday to put anything on hold until then...and this is often when I'm trying the hardest to get something off my plate for the next week...
It's all about Thursdays it seems.

Being a contractor right now, the fact that one of the permanent is rather, let's average, is good for me, logically... It makes me look good!
(and since they pay me a truck load, I can't complain )
Despite that, I found it sometimes tiresome, it feels like he doesn't now how to read code and want me to do his work occasionally, when he got scared by some piece of code and also sometimes butcher perfectly fine code into a buggy monster, sigh...
I have to strike the delicate balance between being helpful and teaching what I know, and tell people to leave me alone...
Oh well... I guess it's a growing experience, haha, just wanted to rant!
