The "Western designed, Chinese built" ones are generally OK - all iPhones are made in China - it's the ones designed and built by Chinese companies that you need to watch for, in my experience.

Makes me curious actually, if you can mention any tablet designed in a western country besides Apple and Microsoft.
I'm not sure I can. (Or do Korea and Japan count as Western nowadays?)
Google designs theirs in Taiwan nowadays. Maybe Lenovo, they're Chinese, but they used to do the design in the US.

And Samsung are Korean / Taiwan.
Good point.
I guess Korea and Japan count as "Western" ...

Umm, have they moved geographically eastward much?

Not last time I checked.
I was merely questioning their (cultural/ technological/ whatever) belonging, since most tablets I know are not western.

FWIW I've got an 18 month old Teclast T8 tablet that's still flawless. To the extent that it might matter it was one of their notionally higher end models ($250, 8") and has a solid metal body not cheap plastic.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Honestly, I've been investigating for a new tablet more than one month now because I need one for my soccer teams - yes, all soccer results in France must be handled using an app from the FFF that only works on *some* tablets with at least 10,1" screen... Well anyway, if not Apple, then Samsung tab S or Surface. All Asus, Archos, Lenovo, and whatever other brands can be ditched : not reliable, sluggish after a few months use - they are all mid-expensive, so you get at best mid-quality.

Herself has a Tab S, few years old now, and still as nice as the day it was bought. Only criticism for Herself is the battery life and charging time: her Jigsaw app chews the battery (why?) and it takes 7 hours to recharge. It doesn't support Qualcom, so the standard Samsung charger is about the best you can do.

I currently have the new Galaxy Tab 6E on the top of my list. I am running a Pixel C at the moment, and it is randomly rebooting, the volume down doesn't work and the wifi randomly drops out, so I am ready for a new one as well!

Loving my 8GB Surface Go. Took it out of S Mode. Loaded my own UWP app; runs perfect; deploy to the Surface directly from Visual Studio on the PC (wireless).
Loaded VS2019 as a lark. Not sure about development (didn't bother) but fine for fixing stuff on the road. $700 CDN. Quality stuff (not using a physical keyboard or pen at this time though).

They love this place. Four episodes of TOS, one episode of TNG, two episodes of Voyager, one episode of Enterprise and scenes for three of the movies were shot there.

This area is known as Vasquez Rocks.
As CodeWraith says, at this point it's no longer just a coincidence; they intentionally keep going back to that location.

Yeah, Spiner looked like he could've used a few more coats of paint.
If they really wanted to spend the money on that sort of thing, I'm sure could've made him look a lot younger. I'm thinking specifically one of the X-Men movies, where they rather convincingly took decades off of both Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. But, I guess they don't have a movie budget...or they just decided it didn't matter much.

Looking Good! Are they going to release it in "binge" mode or "dammit I want the next episode now" mode? Looks like "binge mode", but I'm not sure which is worse ...

Like a lot of movies, I hope the trailer isn't the best thing about it.
I'm also hoping Amazon can better produce a sci-fi TV show than Syfy, although Syfy sets a pretty low bar, which is why I couldn't get into the first three seasons no matter how hard I tried. It always left me with the same "I'm watching a cheap TV production" feeling I always get when watching some sci-fi series made in Canada like Andromeda, Continuum, Helix, Orphan Black and countless others.
Some of these could actually have been good (I'm thinking in particular of Orphan Black) but the most common fault I frequently find in series like these are the annoyingly repetitive background soundtrack, which can have whole series unwatchable. I don't know why, but I notice these in sci-fi series a lot more than any other genre.

Drinking several glasses of wodka before watching those series helps a lot

Incidentally, you'd think some of those in charge of some of the series I've mentioned were drunk themselves.

I'll vote for binge mode, watch it all when I'm ready.
In fact just yesterday (Sat) I did Killjoys last season.
non binge releases I'll wait till all eps are in (if it's a proper continuing series, Room 104 for instance I'll watch 1 at a time.)
Binge mode only minor hassle is skipping over the "last time on ..."
