When I get days like that, I get the app code wrong and the cat gets a BSD ...

Everyone knows that cats aren't bugs: they are Fiends from Hell, wrapped in fur and taught to purr nicely. Bless 'em!

Boss Surgery - Dilbert Comic Strip on 2019-07-11 | Dilbert by Scott Adams[^]
But I think no matter how hard we try... mother nature will still manage to deliver even "better" managers than this surgery.

It's more involved than that, in my experience. When my company converts a perfectly good engineer into a completely wretched manager they remove their brain, their spine ("vertebrate manager" is a contradiction in terms), and (if they're male) their 'two best friends'.

Wow, Dilbert used to be funny and high level humor. This is really some low level bashing - managers are brainless, duh. Adams must have had to deliver and went on easy stereotypes because no other idea. You can't be inspired all the time.
(and I am no manager)

Having to state such things or questions of the 'don't you know who I am?' sort are a declaration of bankruptcy.
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats.
His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

My favorite answer to that question is, "why, don't you?"
"They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers! Can I get an amen?"

Do dogs never answer their phones because they don't have collar ID?

I don't think they have phones either... Surely, you mean "bones"?

Except they don't get very good reception with their bones.
