In theory that could possibly work, but having read the which article before, I doubt it. The reader would need to be almost touching my card, but which pocket do I keep it in?

Four inches or so? Not impossible (or even close) on some tube trains. And most besuited fellows have two pockets it is most likely to be in: left and right breast.
If you don't get a signal, move your handbag / manbag / whatever.

Not impossible, no. But the likelihood that even if you could read someone's card, you could do anything with the data, is quite low.

I have a nice setup (about 25x25 cm - so not small but easily can be carried around) that can read RFID from a distance of 9 meters...

Yes, but what use is that information?

Do not know. Never used it to collect - it is part of a prototype I built for a project never took place...

I never liked cuddling with total strangers, which they quickly find out when they try. Long ago I was waiting to check out at a supermarket and someone always snuggled up to my back every time the line advanced a step. That was when I was working for my first employer and I was in uniform, so something like this when the line advanced once again and that person immediately ran into me again:

The Warning - three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico - currently aged 19 (just turned), 16 and 14 who rock!
They've been around for a few years now but they will be new to most people in this forum.
Starting from 2015 they have now written an original EP and two albums, the most recent being a concept album, Queen of the Murder Scene, released in late November 2018.
They rose to attention via their viral cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman in 2014 when Alejandra, the young bass player, was just 9.

I am far too old to want to listen to heavy metal rock. And I never cared for it when I was younger.

No … I think that nobody is too old for this kind of music, but it is a matter of free choice,
and I respect that, of course ,

Back when music was two rocks banged together?

Ok for their age, but subjectively speaking they're fairly poor. Songs are basic, generic, derivative. The guitarist has simply stolen the Foo Fighters tuning which makes it all sound odd. It's just as well these are three teenage Mexican girls...if they were benefiting from white male privilege they'd get zero attention whatsoever.

In their previous TEDx appearance they do in fact cover a Foo Fighters song. I'm not familiar with the Foo Fighters so I can't assess your specific claim.
But what were you expecting to hear? The next Stairway to Heaven at their first attempt?
I like them but taste is subjective.
But re: derivative I'd say lots of artists' first music is derivative in the sense that it shows their influences or sounds familiar. Indeed, when we hear something new we often try to relate it to something familiar. Then over a period of time the artists often, though not always, carve out their own distinctive style, which might still not be apparent to the casual listener in fact.
But even derivative material can nevertheless sound musically good. Rush's debut album could be said to be derivative of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Ten Years After. I still think it's good. And later on Rush became highly distinctive.
Kingdom Come were even more a blatant Led Zep clone. Again, they sounded good. Again, over time they acquired a distinctive melodic riff-driven style.
Mostly Autumn are heavily influenced by Pink Floyd with many, especially early songs, being almost indistinguishable. They're also influenced by a bunch of other stuff spanning classic rock and folk. Yet they too acquired a distinctive style, even while no two successive albums are similar.
The Warning's recent second album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a step up over their debut imo and certainly is the best rock, as opposed to heavy metal or prog rock, I've heard for a few years at least.
Re: the white privilege quip, I know that Western culture is currently dominated by far left ideas but really?
If you don't like them that's fine but I don't think this applies here. It's more that they are young girls playing rock music independently of a Simon Cowell-type machine.

Let me be less ambiguous
They are a below average band who are only getting the attention and opportunities because they are young girls from a politically "hot" area. If they were a bunch of people that "progressives" don't salivate over they would get no attention and no opportunity at all. I predict that when their popularity wanes one or more will "come out" or "transition" or pull some other BS stunt to get them back into the limelight as if you pander to "progressives" you get mainstream attention.

I thought I was quite measured in my response.
I don't mind that you don't like them. Tastes differ. But I think your analysis is pure BS. They aren't even popular yet. They're fairly obscure. No record contract. Barely reviewed.
People "salivate" over them because they like them. They come from Mexico, yes, and they sing in English. But it could equally have been that they were white and came from Austria and sing in English, like the MonaLisa Twins. Would interest in them be due to progressivism?
FWIW, I'm not a "progressive." On the contrary, I think the currently dominant part of the progressives in the West can be more accurately described as regressive left.

Ok, I guess the fact that a below average band is getting so much attention, more than unknown bands that are actually good, is simply down to public tastes and nothing at all to do with the novelty of the band's members.

I spent much of my youth playing drums in rock / indie bands, but we were never this good. Excellent stuff! Thanks for the heads up on them, I'll be keeping my eyes open for them
