I have always wanted a double-screen lightweight portable device; I could run a main-app on one screen, and configure the other to display what I wanted per application. But, I want a minimum size on the order of 8x11 inches minimum. And, the screens have got to look great, and the battery life minimum 18 hours, and so forth.
Looks to me like technical advancements and competition might just hatch such a beast in the next few years at a price mere mortals could pay.
optimistically, Bill
p.s. I define 'optimism' as the enthusiastic denial of reality.

Keiichi Okabe - The Weight of the World[^]
Happy new year everyone and welcome to the first SOTW of 2019!
These past two weeks I've been playing NieR: Automata, an awesome game from 2017 by Square-Enix.
The soundtrack of the game is amazing.
This song plays at the credits.
There's also a Japanese and a French version which play at different endings.
And then there's a sort of medley version which plays at yet another ending.
All are amazing.
And there's a lot of other great tracks on the soundtrack as well.
I've finished the game at 100% so there's nothing left for me to do but listen to the soundtrack.
Already ordered it with a way too long shipping period because it has to come from Japan

Chaperone = tea (CHA) for (PER) half of two (ONE), to chaperone is to go with.
Nice clue!
Tea For One, incidentally is a damned fine tune and I can never figure out why it never made it onto Led Zep Remastered but I digress ...

Remember that data pull thing I was talking about?
Well, they DID change something on the other end. It turns out we were requesting data (by name) that had been renamed.
We changed our code to match their neww requirements, and we're back up to the expected 4.5 hours for the data pull.

Gawd, I had a similar thing, a few years back, when a new (and, as it turned out, useless) guy decided to go back 20 years to the days when every operating system and program was incapable of handling directory and file names with spaces in them, and replaced all the spaces he could find with underscores (one at a time-- he didn't even use a batch script).
Usually, I'm very "Hey, everyone makes mistakes; just fix it, and it never happened", but I really blew my top over the chaos it caused.

I bitched at the BOM because their report was out of date, the response was that the report had been superseded 7 months ago but they had not updated their web site information with the new report name. So there will be a few people in your position because the structure is different

So, completely off topic. Helped the daughter move out a couple of weeks ago and we went through all my stuff in storage getting washing machines, dinner sets, kitchen stuff etc. out for her. I was actually looking for something completely unrelated for me.
So in the last box I find my Coconut. Got this when on holidays in Cairns in 1972 as a 4 year old. The wife has tried to throw it out several times over the years and is for some reason unhappy to see it has found it's way back in to the house.

My boss and I, fortunately, control the production data base (at least the in-house ones). It was an unsaid rule that no one would change someone else's stuff without contacting the other. Preferably before and not after, the before state only used (rarely, fortunately) to fix a bug.
Now we have a number of outside vendors and sources - and every now and then they with their data. A couple of them will, at least, contact us before they make what could have been backward-compatible changes. At least they tell us.
Can you, perhaps in the fullness of time, take charge of your data sources?

Nope - a different contractor owns the data, and despite the fact that we all work for the same people, we have no control over someone else's data.
We have one data source where the contract wasn't renewed, but everyone still wants the data it was producing. It's been dead since Oct 01. I've heard that another contractor is going to be picking up the slack, but who knows... Until something on the other end happens, we can't pull data from that source.

I stumbled upon this while searching for other obscurities and thought it was just obscure enough to obscure this message board for a while.
