Cool . My introduction to Tangerine Dream was Love On A Real Train from the Risky Business soundtrack in 1980. I've got several of their albums.
I'm sure they're an acquired taste, especially for the heavily metal crowd here on CP.

So many great German bands in the seventies - TD, Neu!, Cluster, Kraftwerk, Can, Ashra Tempel, Guru Guru ... the list goes on.

Can you recommend a good album to start with?
I was a big fan of Jean Michel Jarre back in the 80s and I seem to have missed Tangerine Dream.

They are not a group I listened to a lot. I actually liked the instruments and arrangements they used in the previously linked video better than the originals. That being said,
- If you like early Pink Floyd 'ballad albums' check out Stratosfear.
- Other than that, just pick an album on YouTube and start listening.
- I had what I believe was a compilation album called 'Tangerine Dream' that I liked a lot of songs on. I don't quickly see it with a google, but it did bring up this, which is keeping me listening.
Others will have better suggestions. The first album I believe I got was Tyger. Played the title song repeatedly for awhile.

Thanks
Tyger is great - William Blake is one of my favourite poets, so it's great to hear his poetry put to music.

I never heard of Tangerine Dream, but they remind me of Kraftwerk. I guess that must be a European Thing.

No, as a language implies keywords and grammer/syntax. Headless clucking is more akin to the language of politicians than of sailors.
