I'm sorry; this is abuse. You want the room next door.

Do you want to have the full argument, or were you thinking of taking a course?

Decades ago the founders of a company I worked for were getting ready to present a prototype to investors to show how their asset management software was able to transparently gather data from remote systems using nothing but a browser and some VBScript (yeah, I know--that predates me and I wasn't involved).
That same week one of the first much talked-about browser-based scripting exploits reared its ugly head and Microsoft made the decision to essentially block the "feature".
You just have to wait for MS to sort things out, probably before the end of the day. They had to redesign their system from the ground up.

In hindsight, writing an application around what had to (even back then) clearly be a huge security flaw that was eventually going to get locked down/blocked altogether should've been a non-starter.

I remember that I was involved in one of those projects, we eventually went for an installed app on each asset. The browser thing was just too flaky to make it work with the 2-3 browsers available.
