Visual Studio Code[^] is getting some competition!

So why are you not using it ? Or better asked, why Atom ?

Hi Rage,
Just in the next line that you've quoted there's the answer:
For Visual Studio Code there is not a syntax highlighting package for the robot languages I'm using on my daily basis... so not for me...
And the side by side diff is wonderful.

Now thanks to you & Ravi.

I dodn't know Ultraedit or Atom, but with Notepad++ I can do all the things you listed (and I changed the default font). Am I missing something?

Same with UltraEdit. I've used UE and N++ and for the files that I was opening (TBs), N++ could not handle it, so I bought UE.

I see, I have less needs - my biggest files are in the order of MB, I don't program with Notepad++ since I use it for configuration files and log analisys...
Good to know two alternatives though.

The TB-size file was a log file. No log viewer or text editor could open it since it was corrupted. UltraEdit had it open in a few seconds. Since then, I've made the switch.

Bookmarked. Might come in handy.

UE is a wonderful companion.
I used it at a previous company and installed it into some customer computers to ease their robot program maintenance.
FTP, Syntax highlighting, function list...
It works very well.

Thanks for sharing.

My gut reaction was - "what if I am in an accident and my face is scarred - is my phone essentially bricked until a factory reset?"
Maybe I missed that there is still a finger swipe login?

You're holdinglooking at it wrong.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Or you could just use your PIN and teach it your new scarred face.

What if you hold up a picture of someone to their phone? Wasn't this already identified as an issue some time back?

Only with ed implementations by "MeToo!!!!111one11eleventyone" s. Similar to other properly implemented solutions that have came out over the last few years Apple's uses multiple sensors to avoid being trivially spoofable like the ones from disgraces that used nothing more than a selfienarcissism camera on the devices front.

People like that shouldn't be allowed to have money - at least the amount required to buy an (overpriced) iPhone.
They should be provided just enough to afford a balloon on a stick.

I like reading books that make me think differently about things.
I like business books and I like books that talk about what it's like to try to create new things and specifically new software. I'm also interested in what sparks interest in people. For those reasons I really like this book by Jason Fried from 37Signals.com (now Basecamp -- project management software).
Rework (Jason Fried of 37Signals) - amazon[^]
It has some great stuff like:
* Meetings Are Toxic
* Your Estimates Suck
* Outside Money is Plan Z
* You Need Less Than You Think
* Build Half a Product, Not A Half-assed Product
* Make Tiny Decisions
It's a fast read.
Have any of you read it?

You'll need an Apple device and Safari to watch it (grrr) but it's Now on[^]
