Now is it bad enough that you let somebody else kick your butts without you trying to do it to each other? Now if we're all talking about the same man, and I think we are... it appears he's got a rather growing collection of our bikes.

Amen, reverend. And now wipe off those tears, stop preaching and do some good yourself.

Ya know, it would have been real tempting to scream obscenities at her for not getting it right.

Where was today's CCC?
I guess you are up tomorrow now...

I think it was actually my turn to post the CCC unfortunately a combination of work (I know, never an excuse), a dental emergency, of which I'l spare you the details, and a poor memory all meant it didn't happen.
I shall do better tomorrow.

That's how my modest workbox greeted me when I woke it up from standby this morning. Out of memory? After standby? This computer may be nothing special, but it's not exactly a C64.
Turned out that the only (cr)app to be closed was the MSMH 2015. You don't know that? It's the Mickeysoft Memory Hog, also known as VisualStudio 2015.

At least you are not the Mickeysoft fanboi I was expecting to swoop in. Still, I prefer an Atari 800XL. Come right over and we can try out both side by side.

Not really. I quite liked the Ataris (I've got three of them somewhere) but the C64 was my first computer, and you never forget your first love.
Now if it was C64 vs Spectrum, that would be a different matter...

Now that's true. Here is a picture of my first computer[^], three months ago.

Grandpa Elf needs a checkup once in while, especially when I rejuvinated him with yet another self built expansion. Just recently we found a really simple way to add a USB port plus a controller chip to read and write the FAT32 file format on a memory stick. Looks like the old computer will soon use a memory stick as SSD.

Yes but is it still the same old computer when you're adding new parts to it? "I've had this mop for years. Its only had two new heads and one new handle". I suppose the case is original...

You can say that about any machine that has been repaired and restored often enough. Is the Mona Lisa in Paris still the original painting after those centuries, almost being destroyed and restauration?
In this case it is still the old computer because I replace parts only if they are defective and my new expansions sit on new boards which can easily be removed by simply pulling them out of their bus slots. Preferably when the power is off.

Those memories came out of fashion just before the Elf kit was made. They may have had a certain steampunk charme, but they also were bulky (in size), small (in capacity), expensive and slow. The short but important time when people built their first computers from scratch or a kit led straight to the first computers sold in stores. It would not have happened like this with that sort of memories.

Both computers were very similar in their general capabilities, but perhaps you can spot the most important difference:
This[^] is a game I used to play a lot. Look at the screenshots and compare them to the screenshots from the C64 version.[^]
And you know that the Commodore Amiga was the direct descendant of those 8 bit Atari computers, just as the Atari ST was designed by the guys who made the C64? These were hard times for loyal fanbois.

My personal experience with VS2013 and VS2015 Community Editions is that they do the job. I do not claim that they are the best compilers or IDEs out there (they certainly are not the best compilers), but they have never crashed on me.
Your mileage obviously differs from mine.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

This has happened before, whenever I had to work on this particular module. I suspect it's the older version of the entity framework that somehow makes Visual Studio think it needs to cache so much. What that could be that slowly fills all memory while Visual Studio does nothing for a few hours? Who knows.

You do seem to have way more problems than many others so perhaps your feelings are just, who knows. Or perhaps you are doing something different than everyone else.
If you hate Microsoft so much I suggest changing vendors so that your stress level can be reduced.
