I don't think my mum ever used a computer - or even a digital timer!
Iris does well - she does things with Word that I don't even try, like making one-page-folding-booklets.
If I could just stop her clicking "OK" on every dialog on the internet...

Speaking as one who never shuts down a computer unless forced, kicking and screaming, to do so, I don't really give a damn about start-up times. We all need to get coffee or do toilet-paper origami some time, no?
But transferring my weven systems and {pf}s to SSD made such a difference in general performance that I don't think I'd ever be happy to use HDDs for them again.

Nor do I.
But with a lappie, being able to just open it up and it's out of hibernate and ready to rock in a second or so is a big plus as far as battery life goes!

Jaws, of course!

This story [^] and the one about MS pushing Azure prompted me to ask.
If you have a cloud storage, dropbox/google/ms etc and you system gets encrypted by ransom wear is the cloud data encrypted as well? are the roll back options on any of the personal cloud services.
Is this is an opportunity for a "premium" product.
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity

Dropbox let's you revert to older file versions -But yes, if you encrypt the files and they get synced, then they are encrypted on dropbox aswell, you can still revert to the previous version though.
