Ideas about food and health vary from place to place. Having a permanent vitamine B12 defiency, I tend to eat quite some lamb.
So, yes, meat is rather bloody important for your diet and anyone who plans on doing without meat should get some good preparation and tons of advice.

My mother's digestive tract lost the ability to absorb B12. She had to have it injected every few months. The effect of the injections was dramatic!

Ditto, but at the start it was once every week. Means a needle in some muscle, not in some fat-tissue.
Juck.

My doctor told me recently that I can't eat meat with nitrates anymore - high colon cancer risk. I should only eat uncured meats and to stay away from red meat altogether.
I don't know how that makes me feel. I am still in denial.

I can see how that affects cured meats, but I do not see how that affects red meat?

Starts with the word "suggests". They are also talking about "large" amounts, not normal portions.

Yeah, I know. However, I am at high-risk for colon cancer, thus I need to cut most of it out.
If it wasn't bad, they wouldn't suggest. correct? I guess it is your interpretation of the word "suggest".
Don't get me wrong, I love red meat and bacon and all that crap.

As has been pointed out, very few natural plants are good for you and/or digestible (and way too many of them will make you sick or kill you outright), whereas almost all animals are edible.
So how on earth can anyone think we are designed to be plantivores?

WCF config is a royal pain in the backside. Moving back to .ini files wouldn't make it any better.
Anyway, app.config files are so last year - it's all about config.json[^] now!
