That's worth a squeal of (dis)approval if you ever heard how this name is pronounced.
The language is JavaScript. that of Mordor, which I will not utter here

Hi CPers!
I wanted to take a moment to share my gratitude for this awesome CP site and community, as once again you all have not failed to impress.... I had put a question in here about insurance/legal protection available for developers about a week ago here[^] and was preliminarily disappointed by the lack of replies about something that I thought was a pretty important issue to all of us...
A few days later I checked back and lo and behold, to no surprise: the beacons were lit, the Rohirim mustered, and the servants of the secret fire rallied forth wielding the Flame of Anor and Sword of Udun with a full variety of information, experiences, encouragements and everything that I have learned to expect from this cool community with such a breadth of knowledge and wisdom mixed with humor and commentary.
I am going through all the replies today and soaking up all of the great information that I received; all will be upvoted and again many thanks to all who replied and to Maunder and all for making CP what it is.
Cheers All!

Apart from a few paragraphs of bla bla, I didn't understand anything that you have said.
Anyways, the insurance, in what manners? Companies do offer insurance, health insurance but... What are you talking about?

You don't know what he's talking about? Perhaps you need a class in reading comprehension.

I am sure that class would have much more point.
Also, I did know what he was talking about...

I was unclear as to what did he even mean. Insurance, but what insurance. You also know there are many types of, even for a developer/programmer.

fwiw, I knew what you were talking about. Not sure about the reference to LOTR, that might lose some people.

hheheh it might lose some people and I encourage those people to get their nerd on and check out LOTR.
I am so nerdy that I literally challenge people I meet to outquote me on "Star Wars" (at least Ep. 4), yet I finally started just getting my LOTR on about 6 months ago at the bequest and with the encouragement of my nerdy girlfriend... Finally at last just 2 days ago I completed the whole trilogy through the Coronation.
Thanks charlieg for at least putting some context into my potentially insane sounding references to Anor, Udun and the Rohirim for any LOTR-deprived CP nerdians
Have a great weekend

BTW if any of your confusion was caused by the allusions to beacons, Anor, Udun or the Rohirim, I would like to recommend to you a trilogy of novels by an author named J.R.R. Tolkien, titled "The Lord of the Rings"... He also wrote a couple of companion books, one of which is titled "The Hobbit". There is actually a trilogy of pretty-well done movies based on the books directed by Peter Jackson, worth checking out; here's a sample of one of my favorite scenes[^]
I previously had not been too interested in pure fiction, particularly dealing with orcs and trolls and dwarves and wizards and elves, but I have to say if you have an imagination that desires to be stirred then I would encourage you to liberate it...
Enjoy and Cheers!

Great, I have been a great fan of this fiction (I am not sure for you whether it is a fiction or not, but for me it is a real-world story... A mind with common sense of derivation would know). I have also seen the movies (Trilogy) and it did influence my life for a while.
The Hobbit, I have not been a fan, but my friends do tell me that it was an amazing movie; I have not read the book for it. I do not have a desire for imagination; it is a luxury, but I do give some time to them.

The works of Tolkien have indeed blurred the lines of fiction/non-fiction for me so I so understand what you mean friend - brilliant post... Thanks so much

He's not talking about health insurance. It's more like professional liability insurance, which covers your financial liabilities if you are not able to fulfill your end of a contract. That type of insurance is often called a "bond", and if you have it you can tell potential customers that you are "bonded", which indicates to them that their risk will be lower if they hire you as opposed to your unbonded competitors.
In some legal jurisdictions you are required to be bonded in order to practice certain professions. For example, in California, in order to offer your services under contract to build/remodel/repair houses and other structures you must be bonded (and have a license to do the type of work you're offering). Of course, unlicensed and unbonded people do offer their services in that field, and if you ask around with their customers you will hear a lot of stories of embezzlement and fraud. Even when they aren't outright criminals, it's not unusual for those contractors to do inferior work, since most of the licensing process is about making sure you know how to build stuff properly (California has a lot of earthquakes, so that can literally be a matter of life and death).

What was your final outcome regarding insurance? Do you need it?
