Today is my son's last day in the USMC active duty. Doesn't seem like it's been almost 4 years already. I'm so proud of him, he made E-5 Sgt.

He doesn't drink ofter and I pretty much quit 5 years ago, still taking the occasional shot or bear but he won't drink with me for some reason, I've offered several times and he's refused?

We like to camp and hike. He and I did a 13-1/2 mile hike over terrain that ranged from 600 to 1800 ft. frequently in just under 8 hours. He had loaded his pack with 40lb. weights and I just water, camera and safety gear. He hardly broke a sweat and I was slap wore out...little sh*t!

Mike Hankey wrote: camp and hike Sounds like fun (okay, maybe not the 600ft to 1800ft part ). Just so long as he can carry (or drag) your weight, you should be alright.

If drinking with you meant that I was at risk of being mauled, I'm not sure I would either.
And congrats to both of you!

Oorah! Glad to hear that he made it through.
As for the drinking together, don't push it. Make good memories of hiking and camping together.

No thank god he was stationed here at Paris Island, the MC recruit depot and spent his entire time here. He had talked about switching careers and getting into something different where he could have ended up going over.
