At some level I can't help thinking that it's a shame she didn't take them out too, although that would be even worse for this poor kid. It's a shame that they can't be charged with child abuse. I hope her therapy bankrupts them!

0) With a young (or novice) shooter, you NEVER let them fire a fully automatic weapon.
1) Even if you let them use a semi-auto, only put a SINGLE round at a time in the magazine until you AND the shooter are comfortable with their ability to control the weapon.
2) This guy was a dumbass because he broke rule #0 and #1 above. I'm not saying he deserved to die as a result of his mistakes, but still...
End result - he's dead, and the 9-year old little girl is most likely mentally damaged.

They can fire FA. But you don't give them a full mag. 3 rounds, maybe, to start.
And you're a fumduck if you stand to their left when they go FA. (Yeah, but getting hit by brass is better than getting hit by lead.)

To see you both take this situation and try to justify it by taking the line that it "is ok to let a nine-year old girl fire guns, even automatic ones if it's done safely" is just f***ing hilarious.

I didn't justify anything - I stated that the "instructor" was a dumbass. As long as we're on the subject, though, I see nothing wrong with a 9-year-old firing a gun with supervision and reasonable precautions.

People do stupid crap and die because of it every day, I can't believe the press this is getting. Oh wait I guess this is more important (because of the cool video) than poverty, hunger, homelessness, etc.

Usually a white-on-white killing doesn't get this much attention.

Very true. Apparently though, kill video + gun control lobby = main stream media saturation.

There's an old saying, "Don't give a semi-automatic to a nine year old", I never understood it until today

A CC containing French words and the word "French" about ammunition. O the irony.

Would it not be great if you could get a phone with a fully-blown Windows (8.1) installation? I have been craving this for ages, the device would have a micro-HDMI-out and a micro USB port. Then we could plug in a keyboard, monitor and mouse for a fully-blown PC with Visual Studio in your pocket for fixing problems on the go. A few mods to the software to enable easy calling and 3G and hey presto "Windows Blow Me". Pleeeeaaase!

Yeah, it's called a Beaglebone Black with Ubuntu or Debian and I've seen someone put together a cell phone cape for the thing, I think! As for not having VS on a BBB, I'd rather just remote in to my main computer from my BBB!
Windows 8.1? Gross. I will never buy a Windows phone (or an Apple phone.) Guess that leaves me with Android.

Well - that's kinda of the idea. Eventually.
Apple are approaching it bottom up, windows top down (a terrible idea given their infrastructure), and Linux - well, they just approach it head on.
