you forgot the large force of French (which Nappy wanted back but didn't have the ships to do it)
If you ever get this side of the pond we have a couple of them left there is HMS Unicorn at Dundee and HMS Trincomalee at Hartlepool
and of course the longest commissioned warship HMS Victory
and something a bit later in HMS Warrior also at Portsmouth a ship when launched was reckoned to be the equal of any TWO foreign NAVIES
(we should have kept HMS Dreadnaught as she too was a revolution in warships)
You cant outrun the world, but there is no harm in getting a head start

No, hadn't forgotten them at all... like I said, the politics right around 1800-1840 were nothing short of amazing.
Anyway, I have been to Boston numerous times, have seen the Connie, have not yet been able to tour her. Checking out HMS Victory just went on my bucket list. I'll have to look up the others. One of my favorite movies is Master and Commander - mainly because it's one of my first blue ray dvds, and it do like nice on the big screen.

"a picture and caption that was clearly meant as a light-hearted trolling of Americans. Many of them, however, appeared not to get the joke"
Not getting jokes appears to be something of an American specialty. Don't even ask one to define the word "irony"; you'll be there all day.
I imagine that this will be celebrated every year in the UK, from now on. I shall certainly throw a party.
BTW, were you aware that the original design for the statue of liberty had her thumbing her nose in the direction of England? At least the French have a sense of humour.

Please document the Statue of Liberty statement! I love it.
Can't take a joke - sad, isn't it? We have so many people walking around with chips on their shoulders, just waiting for someone to offend them.

Code Project Rule of the Day:
1A. Anything you say, no matter how truthful or carefully picked, WILL be deemed wrong if the majority is against you.
Today we rest on a very important rule. Find the guidelines here[©]
Lets meditate on this rule and try and implement it in our daily CP use today.
For any new rules feel free to comment here and it might be added

Majority - let us prove this to be wrong

|
|
|

That is completely and utterly wrong!

You can make a fantastic game on CP. Rules would be as.
You will post a CPROTD.
One has to find the actual discussion link which follows your rule. Like in above case one has to find the discussion where OP has started a truthful topic and had downvoted or removed badly.

The day before we came home our next door neighbour in Balatonfured gave me the password for the wireless router he has and says we cane use it any time we're in town.
Imagine what would have happened if I'd got that four weeks ago...

Wow Graphene[^] is amazing stuff!
Have you ever just looked at someone and knew the wheel was turning but the hamster was dead?
Trying to understand the behavior of some people is like trying to smell the color 9.

Amazing discovery.

I would agree with you but then we both would be wrong.

Graphene - the most overhyped material of the 21st century.
|
|

I read some bizarre claims about the miracle material in the Evening Standard the other night. The worst - that the act of lifting your phone from your desk to you ear would completely charge it.

Considering the Stannit is published by the Daily Wail group, are you surprised?
|
|

|

Not for a while actually. It's part of The Independent group.

Just a quick Fat Chick, shows the Wail still holds 25%, while the Lebedevs hold 75%. The Lebebdevs also own the Indie.
So I'm still right.

Exactly. Real scientists been trying for years to find something that they can actually do with it, rather than just blather on about what they might be able to do with it.
