Well, you could put down some money on it, and a Norwegian did just that[^]. He bet 32 NOK (roughly 3£) and got 5600 NOK back (roughly 550£), as he had put money on Suarez would bite somebody during the world cup.
BTW: A game[^]

Good job England only booked a hotel for the first week. What a very poor show from a bunch of over-paid, under-skilled donkeys.
What on earth was Lampard doing there??? Maybe it wasn't Frank but another Lampard. I though he retired!!!
Get rid of Hodgson and the board of the FA and retire any England player currently over 21. Next world cup they'll all be in their prime instead of over the hill.
Now I will support the USA.

Someone already said that Englishmen are eyeing on 2018 edition. Do not trust them though. They say this for every next World cup.

They've actually been set a target of 2022 to win, but that was set by an idiot.
English football has been mismanaged for the last ten to twenty years and is currently that far behind the rest of the world.
I could write pages about what is wrong and what needs to be done but it wouldn't be of interest to most on here.
It isn't the fault of huge manager, or the players, and it isn't (as most in England seem to think (which is why it won't improve enough)) down to too many foreigners in the Premier League, they are a symptom of the problem, not the cause of it.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Blaming EPL is idiotic. That is chance to learn South American way to football. Club football has nothing to do with international games. These guys are professionals and they should understand it.
I am not a big fan of English team but I feel, they are never in same direction as rest of World. They have a decent young line up. Players like Sturridge can do good. I, for one, would get rid of Rooney ASAP. He is shite. And are you going to play Lampard forever? Really? He is done. Face it. Same applies to Gerrard.

Actually, at least I would be interested.

Maybe I'll type out my thoughts in reply to this sometime when I'm on a computer rather than a tablet, won't be tomorrow as I'm back in hospital for some injections in my hip.
I've been in and around football all my life;played, coached, refereed, watched. My brother was at a professional club as a schoolboy, I know people in and around the professional game these days. I may not be right, but I do have a lot of fairly well informed ideas on the subject.
Also I am not an England supporter at all, never have been although I am English, they are simply another club that I do not support so whilst I am not impartial when it comes to football in England I am when it comes to the England football team.

In hindsight, Sven-Göran Eriksson wasn't that bad was he?
Actually when you consider the level of the players he had to use, he was damn good!

Some of us said at the time he was very good.

I blame the fans. Every season they pay through the nose to get tickets to what is theoretically a club event. Wearing clothes purchased by the clubs for a pittance and sold for a fortune, which change every year so they have to be re-bought. These clubs use the moolah all this brings in to buy in foreign players which then naturally throttles the supply of players who could go on to play for the country.

Totally agree with you, the difference between the English football team and a teabag is the teabag is in the cup longer.

They are both sunny touristy islands** - so yeah, maybe.

SL and touristy? Apart from blue whale lovers, who else is potential tourist there?
|
|
|
|

Gorgeous beaches, historical towns, wild animals/forests/safari, beautiful landscapes, etc.

Nothing beats blue whale colonies they have off the coast if you ask me.

Yeah maybe, but you did ask me what else is there, didn't you?

Well, there are, IMHO, better options for these things than SL. I mean, I would go Aruba for beaches than somewhere in SL. I would prefer Africa over anything for wildlife. It is my opinion. Like you guys say, 2 cents.

Well, someone living in say South India would find it much more convenient and economic to go to Sri Lanka over the Caribbean. If you think about it, tourists come to India, and most Indians have no idea why - so it's all subjective.

|
|
|

Of course. Till date, I have no clue why people care about Taj Mahal. I have seen a lot of difficult constructions from that time and before in India. No one cares about them though.
It is subjective until Mrs. Wife tells where you are supposed to be on holidays.

If they had played against Costa Coffee[^] they would probably have still lost!
And that's with the baristas serving drinks to the audience the whole time...

I think I have seen Costa Coffee reference before as well somewhere. Same context.
BTW, did I ever mention that Costa Coffee was the only place to get food at Doha airport when I was there? The were selling Bugatis and what not but food, who cares. I had to spend 13 hours there.
