With those kind of totals, Chris and the team are probably running into database constraints. Good job keeping the site running all these years. It's been fast and reliable.

Why?
These are small numbers in database terms. When you think that they are utilising Amazon Cloud Services (for ::Workspaces). Just look at the recent Azure numbers, 20 Trillion Objects, 1 million SQL databases, 2 million requests per second etc. etc. (souce)[^]

Actually 1 mil objects in anything accessed repeatedly can be a lot.
i.e 1,000,000 rows X 20 user requests a sec.
As of databases though 10,000,000 rows can be an issue if not designed properly. Comparing enterprise cloud services to inhouse databases are completely different.
If I had a billion dollar budget, I could spread out workload too. So what is your point? A couple of years ago Chris had it all in one table.

Ah so secretly you are questioning the capabilities of the team?

Move data inhouse, reduced latency, but probably slower disk times. Move data to the cloud, higher latency, but probably faster disk times. Implementation in either scenario is everything.

I think he still does, he hasn't worked out how to do SQL joins yet or LINQ includes. it is just pretend that they are using all these fancy databases and cloud technologies.

I think it's all still running on a network of psion handhelds, isn't it?

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Did you just bring politics into the lounge?
Oops, I confused politics with an ineffective money devouring machine that somehow makes all the wrong decisions.
Or are those interchangeable?

No...it's a very effective money devouring machine that somehow makes all the wrong decisions.

Not what I meant, but yeah... You're right

Well, you know, the decisions are always wrong for someone.
But usually for most people except for those cashing in.

Anyway at least you didn't have to waste 8 hours sitting there in forced labor for (almost) no pay.
