But being careful doesn't mean I don't make mistakes!
It just means that I'm more at fault when I do make them...

Nope. If he was being careful he'd either be using a laptop or have an UPS attached to his desktop; in either case he wouldn't've lost power.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

What! No UPS???
We just had a momentary outage last night - the whole house went dark except for the TV and the PCs that are on UPS. Now I just have to put the clocks on UPSs, of course, Grandfather just kept ticking away - didn't phase him at all.
Started using UPSs in my prior home which was within a mile of the substation that also fed the Motorola chip plant. Early very Monday morning Motorola would turn on the ovens and cause a brown out for a brief minute (I happened to be on my system at the time) and it crashed my system until I got the UPS. Never had a problem after that.

Your neighbourhood blew a fuse.
The sum of the power usage became to much for the substation.

It would have been the code that he was doing that blew up the fuse

Now THAT would have been MORE than unexpected!

Most of the time, yes.
However I'd only made five minute's worth of changes - mostly very small size adjustments and color changes.
It was kinda guaranteed to work.

Now there's a tale to tell the grand-kids on a long winter's evening. I think you should write it down somewhere.

The Lounge, for instance?

Which country is this?
In India where I live, this is quite common, so we have Inverters in most houses - it is also called a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). That gives a 2-3 hour backup till the main lines are restored.
An inverter converts DC to AC and is different from a UPS.
/ravi
Exactly. The Inverter is connected to a 12 V DC battery (similar to a car battery), and together, these constitute the 'UPS'.
Ah. I didn't realize you meant a home-brewed UPS.
/ravi
It is not home-brewed. The combination of Inverter and Battery is sold here under the name 'UPS'.
OK. In these parts, a UPS isn't also called an inverter - they're distinct, in the sense that an inverter doesn't also include a battery and charging circuitry.

Experienced it, way back in college. When I'm on my educational game project (for PC), one of my classmates accidentally tripped on the lappie's charger, then poof! I lost an hour of work?!
After that, I taught myself to save everything after I've done some modifications in my projects, Even just a line of code. My classmates thought I'm an OC.
